Player Discussion Lane Hutson: Part 3 - Calder Edition

8 points from the 7th all time rookie dmen scoring records behind Chelios but ahead of Lidstrom. 12 pts behind to tie Raymond Bourque as 5th all time highest rookie dmen scoring record.

Kid has 14 more games to reach those numbers if he can. Right now, everything is just extra bonus

Insane man and he don't make "lucky points", he create everything.

Franchise player!

He is setting himself up as the best player of his draft class. I don't know who went 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, but I don't envy any of those lottery pick teams. We got ourself the best player in the 2022 NHL Draft. He can only improve from here.

Yes, he is the best from this draft.

Slaf will be easily the 2nd or the 3rd between Cooley.

Wright and the rest after.

We just drafted 2 players from the top 3 !!

Evans told Hughes that he better spend the cap savings from his value contract on Hutson or there is no deal. Hughes said.. DONE!

$1M - $2M in savings helps on Hutson’s next deal for sure!

Very curious if Hutson’s camp goes after max deal or does Hutson fall in line with the team competing strategy. Suzuki is a big voice in that room and he’s underpaid already.. leading by example like Bergeron on the Bruins!

I'm not dumb enough to believe he doesn't care about the money at all but dude is a hockey nerd and seems like a pretty innocent guy. I don't think he'll take a massive discount but with the cap going up, instead of asking for let's say 9.5-10 AAV, he might go down to 8.5-9 AAV

Lane Hutson is the best thing that’s happened to the Montreal Canadiens since the 93 cup
Carey Price would have something to say about this. But…

1. We wasted him
2. Injuries limited what he could do.

Hutson is coming in on a great young team. He’s been a superstar since day one. I think you could be right here.

Hutson’s vision has been elite since game one. Now the rest of his game has started to catch up and emerge. Particularly his skating.

As Hutson gets stronger, it will go right to his feet and his overall ability to impact the game. An ability that is already readily apparent and significant.

Hutson is already a revelation. What the rest of league knows (and fears) is that he will only get better. I’m excited to see Hutson and Demidov on the ice together in the coming years. Particularly on the power play.

This could get quite interesting.

This kid is fantastic and really glad Montreal drafted him. If he does get better, even more incredible but if he doesn't, doesn't matter as he's already fantastic. Checking out the stats and he's among the best D already, and then see what Makar has been doing for years., how good is that Makar? I don't see many of his games and if Hutson is this impressive, he must be really fun to watch.

8 years 8.5M and that's cheap as f***.
