Really impressive.

That being said, do you guys remember the loser of Brady Tkatchuk mocking him while behind the net??

That's exactly why intelligent players never do that. It's because the only way it ends is you looking like a stupid moron.

Just for some context regarding Tkachuk. When Tkachuk was in a contract dispute with the Sens, he was practicing with the US U18 program, which Hutson was part of. He knows him and has been complimentary of Hutson. So there's some lore behind that mocking.

I expected growing pains in the defensive zone ala quinn hughes in his first few years.

I didn't expect him to compete for a top-5 defenseman scoring spot due to matheson starting on the first powerplay.

I didn't expect hutson to be a front runner for the calder at this point in the season for the same fact.

Glad to be wrong.

I'd be surprised if he can catch hughes, makar and werenski but I'm looking forward to see him catch Morrissey.

I will repeat myself from a couple months ago but next year with demidov's arrival will be an extremly special season for us, habs fans. I'm already having a blast due to the team's recent success like I had in a long long time.

I guess the coaching staff agreed with those posters.

Hard to argue with success. His transition to the NHL has been smooth.
He was clearly the better option from Day One. Everyone knew it even Mike Matheson. Hutson's real transition was always going to be tied to his even strength play. We haven't even seen the best of him on the PP as our play will evolve given his ability to get pucks through to the net. Loved that tip in winning goal last night. Every forward on the Habs should be working on this skill we finally have a Dman who understands the concept and how to deliver the pay load.

EK was no joke before he got his achilles torn..
I don't buy that at all so his injury only affected his defending????

We need to feast on them Tomorrow and it's the only game that matters at this point. Everyone wants to look ahead but Roger Grillo is doing a great job keeping them in the moment.

Good post, but had to fix the inaccuracy. You're welcome. And yes, I'm 5 classless Subbans out of 5.

Strangely enough Quinn Hughes had far more problems defensively in his sophomore year.

A lot of People have done a very good job misinterpreting everything I said about Roger Grillo.
The most important thing is I know what I mean.

Immature jokes aside, you mentioned a video on his drills, do you have the link ? I love that kind of stuff and missed it.

I see some similarities between Gretzky and Hutson.

Ok ok don't panic please 99 is the goat but let me explain .

In 1978 everybody were saying that Gretzky would get kill in the NHL.

The dude was so skinny at 6.0 and 170 pounds.....he was skinner than Hutson.

....But he had 2 things that I have never seen in Hockey...:....by far the best IQ ever for a hockey player......skate where the puck goes....easy to say..but 99 did it.

Also because of that it was very hard to make solid contact to him.....he was like a snake out there.....a bit like Ribeiro and now Hutson.

Also, Wayne had maybe the best stamina that I ever seen.

In Canada Cup 87..on one shift I am remember so well.....he was 2 minutes on the ice on the power play and then he stayed on the ice 1 minute 20 seconds after the Pp...and he was bery active out there for the entire 3.20.....

Hutson has all those attributes not at the level of Wayne obviously but....

I suppose we can speculate about how PP1 would have gone with LH from day one.

The bottom line is the hand-wringing was all for not. (Same as the “coaching is a problem” thread). Hutson’s dev has been great this season, which is the most important thing.
