Might be nitpicking, but there were many times where he could have had a legit grade A scoring chance on the PP but he opted to turn around which took him out of the dangerous position. Of course when he can pass it to Laine that's fine, but I'd still like to see him be more confident and rip it from that slot in the first place. It will catapult his offensive game as it's not the first time this happened too.
Hutson does have to shoot the puck more.................that said the whole team seems to give up chances to pass to a guy who doesn't have as good an angle.........frustrating. But the way he can move the puck and himself opens up lanes that were not there with Matheson.

This kid is just wow with his skating and puck handling..............how anyone can say different would just be a hater on the main board!! lol

He will give the rookie of the year guys a run for their $$$

He is already pretty much what I thought would be his ceiling in the NHL, which was elite offensively and pretty decent defensively. I still think though he shouldn't be our best Dman if we ever want to contend for the cup.

He's already one of the best offensive d-men in the NHL. I think we still need a #1 defensive d-man, and I really hope Reinbacher turns into that guy. We don't have one otherwise.

I'm not gonna lie…I’m really enjoying all of the salty posts from other fans about Lane Hutson.

The constant need to diminish him means there's heavy amounts of copium at play

Lane has 1g 10a in his last 10 games and is -1. He's actually 0+/- in those last 10 games at regular even strenght as he was 0gf 1ga with an empty net.

He's now top 15 in points among all dmen. 2 points away from the top 10.

He's only gonna get better.
Generational player. Imagine him on any top team, how many extra points would he have. This is a rookie playing like the best defenseman in the league. There's no one better.

His such a fantastic player to watch. The thing I really like about him it's not only his talent, but his hard work when he make a mistake, he never give up. Most time when he make a mistake, he come back to save his mistake.

This guy will change everything in this team, looks the PP (yeah Patrik Laine help aswell), but the #1 PP is much more dynamic because of Lane Hutson.

This guy is a game changer.

I cannot believe this kid is going to put up 40+ points as a 20 yr old NHL Rookie D
Like we all knew he was 'good' to a degree
But this is WAY ahead of schedule..
I just can't believe that 'we' have him

Nah, for the talent and hype Hutson had, around 50 pts was the expectations assuming he got pp1 duties at some point

Now its looking more like he could get to 60-70 pts.

Still have Davidson too. Mesar isn't a lost cause yet and is still uber skilled.

Absolutely crazy draft.
It will be a sick draft if Slaf can get back to panning out to be that skilled versatile power forward we started to see, plus Hitson, plus hopefully Beck is a Danault level 3c that is happy in a 3c role.

For those who followed him closely, they knew the sky was the limit offensively

If he plays on a top-15 offense he will be PPG+ every season

I've said it before... Lane is Denis Savard as a defenseman. Happy for the kid and our franchise. He's 20...

What if he is? Kid is pushing 20 minutes a game and does NOT look like he is out of place. Mistakes? Yep. I'd like to remind everyone that Lane is a 20 year old small defenseman that destroyed the NCCA. I mean destroyed. Oh, Lane brought a doctor's excuse to his Hab's interview as well. It was about how he would get taller.

It's really a common theme with him, he understands the laws of leverage.

He routinely wins pucks this way, he's always been the smallest player on the ice so he's figured out how to overcome.

Low man wins!

''Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world'' - Lane ''Archimedes'' Hutson.

Cale Makar makes mistakes too. It's impossible not to.

Not as a Rookie no lol
I would of been thrilled with 30

30 pts is weak rookie production for an elite offensive prospect.

Guhle, who is nowhere near as offensively talented as Hutson, paced for more than 30 pts in his rookie season.

Makar paced for 72 pts.
Quinn Hughes paced for 64 pts.
Seider scored 50 pts.
Adam Fox paced for 49 pts.
Luke Hughes had 47 pts.
Dahlin scored 44 pts (as an 18 year old)

Hutson was hyped as the next elite offensive d-prospect. So around 50 pts is what he wouldve needed to do to live up to the hype considering what other high end offensive dmen prospect had done in their rookie years.
