I'd like to think he's our real 1OA from 2022, and Slafkovsky we got later in the draft lol.

I would be very happy if the draft have been that:

#1 - Lane Hutson.
#26 - Juraj Slafkovsky.
#33 - Owen Beck.
#62 - Adam Engstron.

The rest.

That's insane haha!

I'm very confident that Slaf and Hutson are going to be both in top 5 when a re-draft in few years.

From what i have seen so far from Hutson, and if he keeps playing like this and gets better, in the coming years, he's the best player in this draft.

Nowhere land
It's too bad in his earring he doesn't have his father. He have Kovasevik but Geoff Molson is trying to have one of Markov, Weber or Subban to tell him what to do. It's not easy to manage the first teleguided player of the nhl.

Slafkovsky at #26 is not possible, if you pick Hutson at #1 you lose Slafkovsky because hes already taken in the top 3. At 26 you can get Kulich if you want..

Not trying to be an ass but honest question.

Why does it matter anymore? They drafted all of those players, if you're happy with them all, what difference does it make where they were drafted?

Still have Davidson too. Mesar isn't a lost cause yet and is still uber skilled.

Absolutely crazy draft.

Might be nitpicking, but there were many times where he could have had a legit grade A scoring chance on the PP but he opted to turn around which took him out of the dangerous position. Of course when he can pass it to Laine that's fine, but I'd still like to see him be more confident and rip it from that slot in the first place. It will catapult his offensive game as it's not the first time this happened too.

He's young, he will evolve his game with time.

I think he’ll likely be the best player from that draft. Too early to say definitively. But Hutson’s looking like an exceptional player and that’s not looking like an exceptional draft.

If it ends up similar in quality to the 2018 draft we may have ended up getting both a Brady Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes type player. Makes up for the KK pick.

The defensive concerns are massively overblown and the offensive skills have translated, not only that but he's already adapted to teams not biting on all his fakes like they did when he first came in.

Hes such a killer, if you don't come at him, he will dissect you with perfect passes. If you do come at him, he's gonna turn you into dust.

Best of all, he’s nowhere near a finished product…

I just noticed that Hutson is 15th in points by defensemen in the entire NHL, as a 20 year old rookie.

I was expecting him to be putting up points, but not at this pace.

I'm going to make an odd comp here, but it reminds me of when Steph Curry came to the NBA.

Similarly, people had concerns about his size and his college game translating to the NBA, but by year 3-4, he was already one of the NBAs top players.

Not suggesting Hutson is going to win MVPs and all the hardware Curry has, but it just reminds me of it a bit.
