The thread was started on the main board by a ranger fan followed by a bunch of haters making consistently snarky comments like he the next Bobby Orr hurr durr

Then they blame Habs fans for those kinds of comments because he was hyped up too much..... but check out page 1 of that thread and see which camp actually incited the silliness.

It's pretty clear there is a particular crowd that is unhappy about where lane ended up and how he is looking.

Its strange.

I mean, the Habs suck and they are low hanging fruit to make fun of. They should enjoy that.... but it's not enough for some people. Instead, they have to pull some mental gymnastics to downplay lane too.

It's the kind of takes that make you think pit of hate is bottomless and it's never enough.

I think it’s great. Love those kinds of threads.

“But he’s -11!” Whatever. That’s how it was with Karlsson too. Don’t feed the trolls.

Hutson will always make everyone better.

His IQ is something else, at offense and defensive aswell.

I'm soo hype with him in the future with Demidov, Hage and more !

With his demonstrated work ethic, coachability, and internal drive to succeed...

Imagine what kind of athlete he's going to be at 25.

Future is bright 😎
Yes, for sure. Im critical of many of Hugo moves but this one he hit out of the park.

I know he has struggled defensively but he needs time to figure out how to play the nhl game best using his size and abilities. That will come for sure.

Offensively, kid has IT in spades.

Lane, Guhle, DR, and Wifi they have a core to build around. They just need to surround them with better vets. Got to find a better vet RD next summer.

To give the team credit for taking Hutson is hard for me seeing as they took someone like Mesar so much earlier, who, even if he panned out, his likely impact would be an undersized 2nd liner.

I was so mad we didn't take Hutson at 26. And again at 33. So grateful all the other teams were too stupid to take this kid. Didn't some teams have 3-4 second round picks?

Fortunately if there's one thing you can bet on, it's GMs being size queens

It’s so funny because he is very (favourably) comparable to Erik Karlsson and the mere mention of this causes meltdowns

You said it....: they were too stupid.

I am sorry but 95% of hockey fans, GM, columnists etc are so stupid when it comes to size for a prospect.

Example..a dude at 5.9 170 pounds = no touch for 95% of people.

You have to be dumb as s to think that way.

Look just last year a lot of people were like..mmm not sure about Demidov cause he was listed at 5.11.....then the official number came in and he was at 6.0 and then everthing was perfect......jeez. the same Demidov at 5.10 of 6.0 would not change my mind on him

I never heard....ok we gonna draft the 6.4 player instead of the 6.2 but we hear all the time...we should draft the 6.1 instead of the 5.11.

It s the same 2 f...inches... it is absurd...crazy...

In boxing....they are looking at the reach...not in hockey....strange.....a guy like Crosby with how he bend himself in the corners to have a better reach

I watch.hockey since 50 years and ....half of the best forwards in the Nhl were and are....less than 6.0 ....half........

I am not talking about the goaltenders obviously but bring me a sub 6.0 forward any day of the week.

In fact if I have a choice between a 5.10 player a 6.1 with the same talent.......you know what..I might go with the 5.10 cause I know that the dude has character and fought hard all his career to make people wrong on him.

It s not always the same with big tall lazy a....players like Dach...

Lane Hutson.....think about that...in the last 3 years 80% of the comments on this forum were about his f..size....jeez.

5% about his Iq, 10% about his hands and skating...and maybe 0% about the fact that he was pound for pound strong on his legs...

We are in 2024 and nothing change ...it is a shame.

The goat Gretzky was at 170 pounds..skinny like hell but the best IQ ever...almost never injured...Lemieux and Lindros on the other hand..

Josh Anderson is fast big strong , good shot but dumb as a rock with the puck....

So.Iq or size ???

Size for me is not the first 5 things that I Am looking for a.young player..

Look at one of the best duo in the NHL and hey they delivered big time in the playoffs...Kucherov and Point...look at their size.

Then look at their IQ...
