He is clearly too good for the AHL. I say keep him in Montreal
He is but value being part of winning organization and battling for a Calder Cup also. Long playoff run usually best long term for development. Gorton big on competitive team. Instead of this circus of a show defensively. Until Montreal has coach who knows how to implement defense systems. Which likely be in summer. Also will guarantee Montreal a top pick in draft.

All valid points for sure

...he's also battling for the Calder Memorial Trophy.

The people that are agreeing to that statement, are also the same people that are agreeing to join The Peoples Temple family fun group.
I would love watching him play in Laval....they would sell out every game.

I was at the game tonight in Minni wearing a Hutson jersey, a guy came up to me during warmups and said he hasn’t seen many Hutson jerseys yet and asked if he could send a pic to show Lane’s dad. I had several beers by this point and said yes and didn’t think anything of it.

We started talking and I brought up how he should be first unit PP and how when he actually was on it last game he got an assist on Caufield’s goal. I was then drunkenly rambling on how I can’t wait to see him feeding guys like Demidov and Caufield on the PP in the future then he started smiling and said to me he is Cole’s dad.

He was a super nice guy and it was also neat when I told him where I drove up from he mentioned he used to come play there in the late 80s in the USHL and even remembered the rink.

That's a great story

Imagine Hutson surrounded with actual good players....the kid is a gem. He may emerge as the best player from the 2022 draft.
If, a big if, MSL can put this kid on the 1st PP with good players, he could win the Rookie of The Year, Calder.......................our PP and his points would go up big time, with the better offensive players out there, instead of Armia, and Gally etc

No way does he belong in the AHL guys...........I get the whole have him play in the winning environment, but no way does he belong down there....

There's 0 excuses at this point to not have him running PP1.

The fact we sent Matheson out there to stand still and miss the net or drill shins when we needed a goal on the PP in the 3rd is actual hockey terrorism by Marty.
MSL should just have used PP2. PP1 is a cluster of incompetences.

His play where he created a good chance for himself is all over.

Nothing against him, but where the f*** was the team ?

Why is Dach waaaaaay the f*** over there ?

There's no one at the net.

Team doesn't get hockey 101 ?

Someone at the net and maybe the shortside is open.

Dach still thinks he's playing well and that he's in a "prime" scoring position.

I can't wait until he finally scores on one of these dipsy doodle, head fakey, deke through an entire team plays. The guy has like 3 or 4 GOTY candidates without scoring yet.

The usual suspects in the main board threads don't like it, but it is becoming more and more obvious that we drafted the top two players in 2022. The only question is which one is #1 at this point.

Hutson is too good for Laval. He won't learn anything there. He's already mediocre defensively against top competition in the NHL. He has a lot to work on there but the best way for him to learn is by playing against NHL competition.

He just needs a defensive partner that can help him out a bit. Savard from last season would've been perfect but he fell off a cliff. I'd invest a late pick to get a defensive-minded vet to help him in his own end this year.

Was talk on 690 today send Hutson to Laval. Let him dominate there and get him away from this mess defensively. Bring him up next year when new coach and better defense team.
So we'll have two green rookies on defense next year? Sounds like a great plan to me.

I still don't gett he whole let them cook and dominate in the AHL. First you don't learn much by dominating. If you domiate too much it can even be detrimental. That's what happens to many smallish skilled player in junior they dominate too much and nobody can touch them and then boom AHL they get hit and they are are struggling for the first time and some dont'recover from that.

If a player is not ready he's not ready you send him back like Kapanen. But there's absolutely 0 reason to send a player who is ready down and specially not if the reason is to let him cook and dominate. Ideally in a rebuild you want to bring young players in wave so you don't have too many green rookies at the same time in the lineup. There's a strong possiblity Mailloux is ready next year. He's dominating the AHL too much atm don't see what he could learn from it next season. He got to struggle at some point to learn.

Hutson so far has shown to be ready. Ideally we want him to get this year of NHL experience now and not next year. Hutson this year in 24-25. Mailloux next in 25-26. Reinbacher in 26-27. Some of them might flop but we have to try them to know.

What a player. He had a really good game last night. He's really good stick lifting and at poke checking with that long stick.
