If Lane beats any kind of records or reaches (assists or points) top 5 all-time dmen rookie, he'll get it.
It'll be interesting to see rest of the year
He's definitely got a look at it, no doubt

Think he comes up just a bit short but if he does get it, on top of Demidov winning it the next year
We're laughing.

Maim boards haters fuel his offensive output.

I couldn't care less that he doesn't have a hard slapshot, his wrist shot is very good, leave it to Xhekaj and the forwards to blast away. Skill, brains, and compete level makes him the best player on the team.
Being one of the best PMD is all that counts. Getting it out of our end, is a huge deal, and this kid can skate it out, or pass it out
His seeing the game out in front of him is amazing.............that said in his own end, it can be an adventure. Reminds of a smaller version of Karlsson, every bit as talented as a rookie.

Working on his game in our end, will be his big challenge, but personally I can't believe how good he has become in such a short period of time. I agree, his shot, well not a heavy shot at all, but when he is in closer he can pick his spots, so the goals will come.

We got this kid in the 2nd round................truly amazing how scouts from every team missed him, and he was still there when we picked again.

I think he was 5’7 when the draft happened. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been there.

The funny thing is the entire league did it again with his brother.

He may not win the Calder, but he has won my heart.
His Calder chances have only gotten better as the season has gone on IMO. It's a tough field this year but I can't see him not being nominated and I don't think anyone has been better at this point other than celebrini but even then it's a wash. The NHL is lucky to have such a strong rookie class. We need it

Indeed. And frankly, I think he's well suited to have a better 2nd 1/2 of the season than his first 1/2... You can already see how well he's been adapting his game and learning to manage his energy better than in his first 10-15 games.

Smart athlete and extremely competitive. If he stays healthy, he's going to turn his rookie season into one of the better ones by any dman in recent history not named Cale

Hard to see how he's not at least top three.

It will be interesting to see if Lane hits the wall soon...an 82 game grind is way different than a 40 game NCAA schedule.
Yeah, for sure; however, he is still going to be a beast in the PP, I think. His 5on5 play may suffer a lot, though. Too bad we couldn't find him a big stay at home D to cover for him. Matheson playing RD is not ideal lol.

Contract.............do you think HuGo can get him to sign in July as he enters the final year of his rookie deal???

What does his contract look like guys? Will he jump to Suzuki/CC/Slaf type of deals?? 8 years and 7-8M per season? Or will it be a bridge style for 5M-6M?

There is also a thread on the main board, with the haters saying things in the passive aggressive, well he is the best player in the world, so..............lol
The hate flows as much as ever....
