I.M 5foot nine ,205 pounds. My ribs dont show.I'm 5'8 and 155 lbs and my ribs show. An NHLer being listed as 5'10, 162 lbs scares me a bit, no matter how fast they are.
And he's not actually "fast", just very shifty and smart.I'm 5'8 and 155 lbs and my ribs show. An NHLer being listed as 5'10, 162 lbs scares me a bit, no matter how fast they are.
Struble fills a different need. He is Savard's eventual replacement as a solid 4/5 D.I think he actually did very well, might make Harris or Struble available sooner than later…

What I will say is that Lane was a bit sturdier than I thought he would be. Even though he weighs 20 pounds less than Victor Mete did when he started with us, Hutson engaged in battles last night more than Mete ever did. He has also improved his backward skating about 20%. A lot more is needed I think, but it's encouraging that he is putting in the effort.
Let's give a full season in Laval then re-evaluate.

In two years, if Matheson can be moved for a top-6 forward:
Guhle-Reinbacher
Struble-Mailloux
Hutson-Xhekaj
spare: Barron (or Engstrom if ready)
to quote Jake Evans "he doesn't know still i am not the shooter on the team" lolThe best play honestly was the pass to Evans off the face off. He's gonna help Cole and Slaf score a lot of goals with passes like that.
This is it right here. He will help generate so much offence from the back end. Mailloux is the same. We are going to be a far more dangerous team next year. I hope they shift Caufield to Dach's wing, it will create very tough match ups for opposing teams. The best play honestly was the pass to Evans off the face off. He's gonna help Cole and Slaf score a lot of goals with passes like that.
Suzuki also if he slides into that spot like Evans did off the draw. Finally a Dman who can look off defenders and find the open man constantly. The best play honestly was the pass to Evans off the face off. He's gonna help Cole and Slaf score a lot of goals with passes like that.

Did Evans really say that? LOLto quote Jake Evans "he doesn't know still i am not the shooter on the team" lol
He could easily have had 10 more pts EASY this season except Boston had one consistent scorer. I don't want to even imagine what his stats would have been in boston college.
The best part about Lane is that he is a threat 5 on 5 and he has a second and third gear when his team needs a goal. Saw it all year. He is a not JUST a PP QB, he is increidible 5 on 5 and his breakout passes are as good as they come.
I would assume he broke the record for the NHL's lightest defensemen ever. 162 lbs is insane for a defensemen. Though I have no clue if there's been any D that light, it just seems he would be the lightest ever.
I am happy to see is skating, which was actually pretty damn good! It makes his slender frame less an issue, but he still needs to gain some mass for the grind of 82. I am all aboard the Hutson-Reinbacher train. That was a pretty great debut for Hutson and obviously there were highs and lows, but this was not a kid who was afraid of the moment and he played his game, albeit a bit more tempered.
Let's see how he does tonight but this kid could legitimately just be one of those special ones.
I literally wrote he was amazing He will struggle in his own end due to his weakness, but he competes hard and I like that. What I am saying, I see him as a player with specific role in the team (PP and Ozone starts), not a standard top 4D.Relax, it was his first game. Hell even the best of the best got lost in dzone from time to time. He will be fine in the dzone just because of his zone exit. He don't seem to panic even when te pressure is on witch will help him a lot
Yes, it's not like it's a snowballs chance in hell of it happening either. It was a real good pick.At least, there’s a chance he does.
Slaf sure, but there is like 0,1% chance that Hutson becomes a better player than Simon Nemec.
Caufield played in Laval in identical circumstances.....pretty sure Hutson falls into the same category. I may very well may be missing something as this is just a knee-jerk reaction. Perhaps you could explain the difference?
If his skills are so rare, and given the Habs had no one like him and how all contending teams have one of his ilk, why did the Habs not select him earlier than 62nd? All these superlatives and they play with fire for no apparent reason.
