I don't think he will reach top 2 D in the league level but I wouldn't be surprised if he floated around the 5-10 for the majority of his career.

His 5v5 relative possession stats leave a lot to be desired so far but I think he'll be up there with guys like Heiskanen, Bouchard, Dobson and McAvoy that are a #1D but not a generational level.

Yeah, not having an option for "He will end up as a reliable top 4 D" is pretty wild.
anything’s pretty much in the realm of possibility in this stage of his career and it could actually be an interesting discussion but opening threads like this only invite bashing to balance out our hyperbolic takes. Atleast this one will be closed soon

Yeah, I think Hutson has been good, he's clearly very skilled, but to compare him to the two best defensemen in the league that are basically tied for #1 with nobody being a particularly close third place at this time will just annoy people.

LOL @ these poll options that all fit your narrative.

Where is the option for "His ceiling is Torey Krug and his floor is Victor Mete"?
Cmon man you know you’re rage baiting here.

Hutson already has more points in these 24 games (14) than Mete’s career high in any season (13 in 71GP)

He has to prove hes better than guys like brandt clarke, owen zellweger, Luke Hughes, Seamus casey, cagnoni, mateychuk, mailloux, levshunov and a whole slew of other young offensive d prospects before you start comparing him to perennial top 3 dmen in the league. Like him being fox, or heiskanen, or mcavoy impact would still be amazing. Can he top mathesons 62 point season last year?
