This is pure BS. If they really believed Hutson will be a great D in the NHL. They would not have took so much risk and would have draft him in the first round pick (Mesar pick).

We are not talking about drafting Hutson in the top 10. You don't take such big risk of losing him. You draft him late first or early Second (Beck Pick). They got lucky.

I was going to make a point about the teams picking 63,64,65 making that same calculated risk and losing out but funny enough those were the Rangers, Senators and Islanders first picks of the 2022 draft.

Blackhawks had 5 picks in the top 60 that year.

Mesar was a mistake. But those are commonly made.

Yeah that’s a big mistake by the Blackhawks. Why wouldn’t you take a chance on a player like Hutson when you have that many picks?

Can’t stop posting about me, rent free lol. Hutson plays a similar game to Ghost I even said I thought he’d be better, but closer to Ghost than a Quinn Hughes type, not sure what the big deal is? If you’ve watched both players play they’re extremely similar, Hutson obviously has a below average shot where Ghost excels above him, Hutson has better IQ and slightly better skating before Ghosts knee surgery.

I guess you haven't watched both players because Hutson plays nothing like Ghost.

That’s where I wanted them to take him. I remember saying it in the draft thread, and being told that he’d be there later. In the end, we were both right, I guess. Except for the people that said we shouldn’t take him because he’s too small and his game wouldn’t translate - there was plenty of them lol

I'm a Bruins fan and I'm incredibly jealous. Followed him since the USNTDP days and he was already special back then.

I tried telling all of my friends about this kid and no one would listen. They'd scoff and say he's too small. He was in the Hobey discussion and "didn't deserve it." (Fantilli had a great season and deserved it still).

Then in the NHL he "can't defend, can't skate backwards"

I tried telling everyone it doesn't matter, just watch him play.

Thanks for proving you don't need to be 6-0 minimum to play as a defenseman in the NHL.

Bottom line is they ended up with Hutson who will easily be the biggest steal in the draft. Could be one of the biggest draft steals ever. I have Luc robitaille being picked in the 9th rd [ 171st OA ] the biggest draft steal ever.

They could convert him to goaltender and he would still win the Calder. Why? Because he is having a historic season offensively and living up to his defensive responsibilities. Something Michkov will never be able do.
