Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Watch

I thought lane hutson talk was not allowed anymore until he got sent to the AHL where he belongs.

First off, F the Habs. (Fun fact I was born in Montreal)

Secondly, what a f***ing beauty this guy is. I kind of feel like this is what it was like playing against a prime Karlsson. Kids got that vibe and potentiality of greatness, imo. True stud he is.

Congrats (losers), you got a good one

What an odd thing to be born on the island only to become a Habs hater. Did your graduation picture say "most likely to become a comic book super villain"?

He definitely wouldn't be their #1 D-man because he wouldn't have gotten the chance to be. They would have been wrong to do it, but they absolutely would have sent him down.

Who would NJ take out of the lineup? Dillon, Siegenthaler or Luke Hughes to make room for him?

You seem to be struggling with the idea that not every team is built the same way.

Lulz. Some of the takes in this thread are beyond belief.

With the arrival of Demidov and the signing of a proper #2C, Hutson will likely be in the mix with Werenski and Hughes for 2nd in points amongst D-men next season. Makar, barring injury, will finish first of course.

Only because people don't understand that a team that doesn't have Lane Hutson in their organization doesn't plan for him being there. The Devils built their roster with Luke Hughes, Dillon and Siegenthaler all penciled in on the left side. I realize it's hard for you to understand because you can only see what has happened since but a rookie wasn't beating any of those 3 out of camp.

If the Devils had Hutson in their organization they likely don't sign Dillon and keep him around, but to say they'd keep him out of camp with the roster the way it is, that is incorrect.

I know you'll read this and think that I'm saying Hutson isn't better than those 3 guys and that couldn't be further from the truth he's easily better than 2 and personally I'd take Hughes over him. The fact is the Devils don't have Hutson so they didn't plan for him.

Doesn't matter if they planned it or not. If Hutson shows to be way better than the other players, you make space for him. The devils would be a much better team with Hutson than without, which is what really matters. Hutson can also play both sides.

That isn't reality though, they simply wouldn't have waived a player they just signed to a 3 year deal (Dillon) to make room for him. It doesn't matter that it would be the wrong choice but they absolutely would have sent him down to start the season.

We literally see this kind of thing happen every season, a rookie plays great in camp but gets sent down because they don't need waivers or there is no room for him.

You're absolutely right that they'd be better with Hutson on their team, this goes without saying. It doesn't change anything in regards to where Hutson would have started the season.

To start the season the Devils had Hamilton, Pesce, Nemec, Casey and Kovacevic on the right side so it likely makes no difference that Hutson can play either side.

Again this isn't in way a slight on Hutson, he's an amazing player and any team would be better with him. It just doesn't change the way teams that don't have him built their rosters.
