I could never understand the level of misery some people must to have to root so badly against such an entertaining and talented player, hoping the player will fail rather than succeed.

there are some posters whose entire identities are based around cheering against teams they hate rather than cheering for teams and players they enjoy.I could never understand the level of misery some people must to have to root so badly against such an entertaining and talented player, hoping the player will fail rather than succeed.
Fans of other teams are insecure and don't actually enjoy, understand or appreciate the sportI could never understand the level of misery some people must to have to root so badly against such an entertaining and talented player, hoping the player will fail rather than succeed.
Don't know if people are meaning right now though. Feel like so far he's been pretty close to rookie Hughes.
He would have to go at near a point a game the rest of the way to match Hughes' rookie points per game. Not impossible but unlikely.
I can see the style similarity in the offensive zone so I get the comparisons for sure. Exciting player and no reason to not be hyped if you are a Montreal fan. I would not jump to Makar or Hughes comparisons though, they arent needed at this point and its asking a lot of the kid a bit too early. Style wise with the headfakes theres definitely something there to the comparison, but probably best to enjoy his play and get hyped without it becoming about the comparison.
These threads get too bogged down by comparing young guys to established stars/superstars too much and it just sets off meaningless convos about the comparisons instead of appreciating a great young player doing exciting things.
"near pts/gp" i must live in an alternative reality with different math where 0.80 = 1.0He would have to go at near a point a game the rest of the way to match Hughes' rookie points per game. Not impossible but unlikely.

I calculated that before NHL.com updated with last nights totals. He needed 37 points in 43 games to tie Hughes (0.86 per game, which to me is nearly a point per game). His pts/game went up significantly from the 3 point game (as you'd expect). He still has to go at 34 points in 42 games which is much more realistic, though we tend to see players slow down as the season goes along."near pts/gp" i must live in an alternative reality with different math where 0.80 = 1.0
You are quite right it's very unlikely he makes the massive jump from .75 pts/gp to .8 pts/gp (equivalent of 2 extra points every 40 games) considering it's only been about 15 games since he's been put on PP1. Also he's averaged a point per game for half the season already
He'd need an .8 pts/gp for the next 43 games to match Hughes .78 in his rookie season. He'd also need to get an extra -3 to match Hughes -10.
Why are you comparing him to his old brother?Where's whiskey at? Need his opinion....
Lane > Quinn defensively. AINEC.
After last night he should be the front runner. The kid is a heck of a player, it's just that simple.....let the results speak for themselves.
Haters gonna hate.....another thing that is just that simple.
If he can stay healthy, he will challenge for the Calder Trophy.
Its curious how most of those guys just disappeared from this thread.....but don't you worry. They will be back in force if he goes a few games without a point.A habs prospect is actually hitting and living up to the hype?… I expected nothing less then a complete crash out from anti habs posters lol
Who is better than Hutson on that draft?Lot's of people laughing when I said top 2 in a redraft. Where you at now?
Top 2 doesn't necessarily mean 2nd!Who is better than Hutson on that draft?
I think almost every habs fan were willing to accept the trade off of subpar defense for good offense. He’s par defensively for his usage and exceeded the offensive production expectations so far.. if anything your typical all out crazy habs glazer is holding back a lot when talking about this player lolHe’s very good and very young. He is definitely going to be a star in this league at the very least offensively. The way he plays and moves though makes he think he’s going to be unbelievable offensively and defensively be perfectly adequate if not also very good.
I don't think anyones far. However you know how it is, teams will always pass because of his size.Who is better than Hutson on that draft?
