Yeah I really don't think there's any shame in saying Hughes was better at the same age and will likely continue to be better considering he's arguably the best defenseman in the league lol. Hutson will be Hutson, and it's gonna be a lot of fun to watch his career. Wouldn't be shocked to see him sniff PPG some seasons once Montreal's offense rounds out.
No shame from me,[ Hard to be as good as Hughs] but I still think Hutson is gonna be something special if injuries are avoided.

Kind of reminds you of the response Karlsson got on here. Didn't matter how dominant he was, how many points he put up, he'd still get slammed on here from the usual cast of characters, one of them being yourself. You should be well prepared. The difference I guess was that at least pre=Cooke slice, EK could bail himself out of pretty much every defensive zone encounter. Hutson will need to improve that aspect a lot or you're going to see even more highlight reel plays against him.
Hutson will not be as good as Karlsson Period.

More impactful as a rookie now not more talented, higher floor, but I think Hutson's ceiling could be higher. Hutson has the same amount of points as Celebrini and he's a defensemen, and Celebrini has already missed how many games due to injury and he's only 18, but Hutson is just as talented. Availability is an ability.
Possibly the first time we've ever agreed here. Hutson absolutely has that kind of upside. Celebrini is probably more likely to reach his upside and his floor is higher. Hutson's talent level is on the same level.

Did you keep the puck in at the line, skate around two players, and make a perfect pass that opened up all of the space that led to the eventual goal?

Or did you touch the puck 20 seconds ago and get lucky?

So many factors that stat watchers often miss while speaking in absolutes.
Great example of a valuable secondary assist by Hutson. He moves all the defenders over to his side of the ice, passes to the top of the triangle and then the puck is sent over to Laine for a one-timer

creating a shooting opportunity on a 5-3 pp = magic?

i would say this is a perfect example where regular puck movement created a shooting opportunity and the sniper did most of the work to create the goal.

There are 3 players on the ice

There are 2/3 defenders on hutsons side of the ice because that is where 4/5 mtl players are

This is a pretty good position to be in as a 3 man PK at the time of hutson's pass arriving to target.

You cannot be out on the point man, or on the side covering laine. Because there are 3 of you

The closest defender and the top of the triangle forward from the PK both tried to collapse on him (bad idea on a 5vs3 kill) and he shifted in a tight space away from them both while moving the puck to free ice. That further exposed the other side of the ice. That's two of those 3 defenders that now have to make their way back into position instead of already being there and anticipating the next move. That is how you exploit a 5vs3. You move them all around. The secondary assist was more influential than the primary assist on that play.

Hutson making a mess of the NHL.

Is there a higher league he can get promoted to?
The Super NHL.................Karlsson is there, waiting.

The kid has been great on the offensive side of the puck............his coverage in his own end, is a work in progress.
He's been a very good find for the habs, and as a rookie is making noise.

Are they out of position tho?

Here is the structure when Hutson's pass reaches caufield's stick.

Where would you think the ideal position is for the PKers here? Where should they be? What is this optimal position that they were drawn out of. The 2 guys in front of the net are accounted for, as is the point man, as is laine, as is hutson with a rotation if it comes back to him
