Leaving Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes behind you as a dman is not smart.

Frankly he'd have been in a better spot to recieve a pass if he was further back. he's put himself on a line where Timo's Skates and stick block basically blocks the entire passing lane

View attachment 927894
So an NHL team gives the ENTIRE slot to an opposing team player and he’s supposed to not take the available space because there’s two players behind him? Is that really your point? Lmao
Yeah, Getting so much flak at saying Xhekaj isn't that good last season yet now it seems like he wasright. He's honestly really good at those stats breakdowns and a lot of people owe him an apology.
So you’re telling me some people were arguing with him that Xhekaj was going to be what, a top pairing D or something like that and that tipped the balance in a year long crusade he’s been at proving every single Habs player and prospect is trash through various spreadsheet and stats when he can’t even correctly break down a single hockey play?

That’s next pettiness

Luke is better positionally, bigger, stronger, and a much better skater.

Hutson consistently gets caught cheating down low and doesn't have the wheels to catch up

Hutson got straight bullied by Haula behind the net on the Siegs goal.
Hutson couldn't do anything close to keeping up with Jack on the backcheck (they started from basically the same spot) on his goal
Looks like Lane has better skating metrics.
Speed wise, bursts and distance covered.

Not at all. This is another delusion from our spreadsheet master.
Was the first delusion that Xhekaj wasn't very good? Because I don't think that's how delusions work.
I would love to know why Hutson shouldn’t have joined the rush here and where he should be positioned on this frame and why.
Hutson HAD joined the rush. Hutson, in the first frame, is close enough to the net to pounce on a potential rebound, and to receive a pass. He's also, in the case the shot misses the net, in a good enough position where a smooth skating D-man can turn and defend.

I'm pretty sure I was put on that list when I argued loudly against the idea that Monahan was worth a 1st rounder last season because I thought he'd have a minimal impact in the playoffs. Then the Jets traded a 1st rounder for Monahan. Then Monahan had minimal impact in the playoffs.

That was fun.
Must’ve really hurt on the inside where the trade was announced?

I don’t remember the Xhekaj discussion. I do remember him saying Guhle was not top 4 material *yet* though.

I also remember him saying Matheson was not a first pairing D, which is valid

Sure, it sucked seeing the Jets trade a 1st rounder for a player who I thought wouldn't be any help for the Jets in the playoffs, especially when it turned out Monahan wasn't any help for the Jets in the playoffs. I have no idea why they did it, and it brought me no joy to be completely unsurprised when Monahan had 1 assist in 5 games en route to a first round exit.

He put up a sweet 37% xGF% in the playoffs too, just to really reinforce that he was an inconsistent scorer with God awful ability to drive play.

It wasn't surprising, but it definitely sucked that what was so predictable ended up happening.

I assume Panthers fans had the same reaction when people argued against Chiarot being traded for a 1st rounder, the Panthers traded a 1st rounder for Chiarot, and he ALSO wasn't worth a 1st rounder.

But that has little and less to do with Hutson. I'm sure he will be better than both Monahan and Chiarot.

Guhle was top 4 material 100%. I said he wasn't top 2 material quite yet.

He was right like when he said Nemec was a top pairing dman. Guys that try to compare advance stats about players who aren't on the same teams and aren't used in a same way should open their tv and watch more games......

Truthfully, all I remember was @Golden_Jet scolding Digg on deployment and how he (unsurprisingly) tried to make the numbers say something that simply wasn’t true and then tried to justify it with some weird explanation. He was called out, doubled down, called out again and then dissapeared for a week or so

Right I do remember that too now. He was so loud about how Nemec was the best D on NJ by far and how he was playing as a true #1 D at 19-20

Yeah I remember now. That’s where it started because you suggested Guhle was top 4 material but Nemec top pairing/fringe #1.

That’s where all the fuss started.

Its very clear he uses advanced selectively and dishonestly in his crusade to convince (someone??) that Montreal canadiens players are not good, all disguised as concern trolling

Regardless of how it worked for the Jets, you had a big need at 2C and Monahan was the best and possibly the only legit option on the market.

As good as Winnipeg has been, you still have a big hole at 2C that will eventually need to be filled again.

monahan for hage plus first rounder this year, two thumbs up

Your gm simply overestimated his core, no xgf was going to get the jets out of the first round. Not sure the root issue there but big time underachievers

lmao, you can’t get past a post with sliding the goalposts., to last year.
You always move the goalposts, and then deny it, never change dude, we see right through you.

So he was better last year, this year he sucks then as can’t even make the 50% percentile.
maybe context matters?

Seems like a crazy accusation considering you said you don't know much about advanced stats and don't care to learn just a few pages ago..

If you realized that the burst # and distances are total stats perhaps it would make more sense to you for a guy who has missed half of our games this year.

The problem remains when you don't understand the stats you spout.

Nemec was the best D man in NJD last year (excluding hamilton)

He and Seamus got caved in this year, and so he is no longer in the lineup.

Hutson is babysitting Savard at this point , Ghule is playing RD on his off side to babysit Matheson, it's a travesty , our vets suck

That’s what I mean, like take a load of Hutson and there should be a guy who he is paired with that can insulate him more to play his game

Savard is horrendous defensively.
Gotta set up your prized prospects for success

Context and understanding of what is being said.

I had a good chuckle over the time I was talking about how ottawa plays undisciplined games, leading to lots of penalties both ways (inflating the stats of players who then get lots of PP time), and he got confused (did not read the post beyond the first 2 lines) and thought I was talking about defense, then accused me of moving the goalposts when I talked about penalties.

I guess below 50th percentile in top speed doesn’t exist,😂

The problem remains when you don't understand the stats you spout.
Or when you ignore the main one like it never existed. Goalpost doesn’t even exist for you to move that one.

Maybe one day you’ll actually get off the internet and couch and go watch a game live, good learning experience.

21.52>21.09

And again, a decent portion of "top speed" is based on having the opportunity to really let it fly and get a full head of steam going.

Truly a sad lack of understanding.

Luke has thankfully been more positionally sound this year and so hasn't needed to really let it rip. (also not on PP1 this year where you get decently consistent opportunities to let it fly)

In conclusion, I am not worried about the skating of the guy who ranked among dmen:

1st in top speed
1st in 22 mph bursts
1st in 20 mph bursts

Among dmen last season.

So what is your contention?

1. That Luke wasn't as fast Hutson in that specific game?
2. That Luke is not as fast this season compared to Hutson?
3. That Hutson is just faster then Luke overall?

I really hope it's not that 3rd one.
