Landeskog Practicing w/Team

Landeskog playing in the AHL might be the single stupidest decision a professional sports organisation has ever made, if it does happen. Some no-name will take a run at him, cripple him and that'll be that.

If that’s all it would take to knock Landy out again, that means he wasn’t ready to come back. Just someone in the AHL taking a run at him

6 days and 3 games sounds like a problem I guess. What happens at the end of that time stint, is he required to be re-activsted?

Yea but what's the point of a 3 game conditioning stint if he can't stay there or come here after? If we were a week away from the playoffs it would make sense.

Unless, of course, that some injured players aren't coming back for the regular season like Manson or Girard and these guys are moved to LTIR soon.

I'm not following you guys here.

What is wrong with 3 games or 6 days in the AHL? He doesn't have to be taken off LTIR at the end of those 3 games or 6 days. He can stay on LTIR and rest up with our NHL roster before the playoffs start. There's no rule that he has to come off LTIR at the end of that period.

There's also clearly an extension process that exists with approval from the commissioner. Landeskog hasn't played in 3 years, you don't think we could get an extension for a few more days?

I don't see any reason why this 3 game/6 day thing is a problem. He can sit on LTIR after that until we need to submit our playoff roster, or we can request an extension and get him another AHL game if we want.

I'm personally not worried about Landy playing in the AHL.

I just would prefer that he didn't have to. Seems like an unnecessary step to take. If he's ready to play in the AHL, the dude is ready to go in the NHL.

You don’t see a difference in intensity, speed, skill in meaningless AHL games where the Eagles have already qualified for the playoffs vs. playing your first game in 3 years in the NHL playoffs?

Really?

Gabe's last game was played at the highest intensity, speed, and skill. No, I do not believe he needs it.

It's certainly no hill I'm going to die on though. If he wants it, he gets it. That's been my attitude towards Gabe since the true nature of his injury was made known.

That last game was over 1,000 days ago.

You can’t be serious right now.

Look guys, there is nothing indicating that Landeskog is about to suit up for the Eagles in a game. Yet. That would require actually loaning him to the club for that conditioning stint. The reports were earlier on that he would simply practice with them, to get in more reps when the rest of the team is travelling.

The Eagles social media emoji is probably Taylor Makar?

Thanks for the clarification. That’s exactly what I was asking.

That’s the part I was unsure about. I didn’t know what the rules were post the stint. Obviously if the LTIR can just be extended past the stint then it’s a no-brainer if he wants those warm up games.

In my mind it seemed odd that a player can be on LTIR, then go conditioning stint, play all the games, go right back on LTIR til playoffs then start right away game 1.

The player is on LTIR the entire time.

It’s called a LTIR Conditioning Stint. :)

 I rarely have been. But no, I serieously expected Gabe's first game back to be at the NHL level, not the AHL. So, I am a bit surprised but nothing really more.

Like any amount of practise would made you ready for the NHL playoffs after 2,5 years basically not skating. Even being Landy one has to get used to the rythm of the game.

He might be physically ready and played for years but my opinion is he definately should get his rust off in whatever game and not @ Dallas in game 1 of the playoffs..

I think even he would benefit mentally to actually finish 1 game in a lineup...
