Landeskog Practicing w/Team

Every time I get the least bit excited about Landy's return

I wonder if they’re not really worried about Landy’s knee getting a direct contact, it’s just more of can he skate pain free. Can he do all the skating that required to play in a game without pain and stuff. It could be that the cartilage is in place strong and solid that they’re not really worried about if there is a knee on knee contact or something like that won’t do any further damage or re injure it

In the 1st 3 episodes of "A Clean Sheet", every "setback" he's had so far has had nothing to do with the cartilage graft itself. I'm beginning to think it's fine. It wasn't till after his setback right before the playoffs last year (bad reaction to a platelet injection) that he said he stopped looking at the calendar, and decided to take things slower.

“The big thing I see is that he’s not wearing a non-contact jersey.”

Just goes to show how little these dudes pay attention. Gabe has never worn a non-contact jersey. Nothing but first line blue each and every time he’s been on the ice.
It's funny because just last week I asked a question about the different colors and you explained each line's colors. The whole conversation came up because we were discussing he never wore "no-touchy" jersey.

Yeah, I haven’t seen the clean sheet yet, but it seems like it’s more about mobility, and skating for Landy and not necessarily the contact to the knee

Gabe himself said he'll never be able to skate pain free again, and it's just a matter of how well can he play and is the pain manageable.

This is why I have long wondered about the difference between he and Lonzo Ball, because Lonzo:

1) Reportedly had a much more significant surgerical procedure than Gabe despite the magnitude of Gabe's own surgery, and

2) Has stated he's been pain free in his knee since he resumed full contact basketball activities. The only reason he's missed games this season has been a lingering wrist injury.

Gabe having knee pain is something I think we'll always have to monitor if he ever returns.

Also could be a difference in the sports.

I had originally thought that basketball would be tougher on the knee with the size of the athletes, and all the twists and turns after planting the foot, but maybe for this specific injury/surgery, the mechanics of skating with the knee slightly bent increases the pain?

If there's a difference in pain vs no pain regarding playing sports vs normal eery day activities, then it stands to reason there would be differences between different sports, and other strenuous activities as well.

Yeah, I guess it needs to be a manageable pain or else he can’t play.

I think the biggest difference is - unless you're a super frequent high flying dunker - you aren't exerting as much force on your knee in basketball but you are stepping and pivoting a lot more, whereas in hockey you're twisting, flexing and turning a lot more.

Who knows. It's just worrisome is all. This has to be finalized by the playoffs IMO because if he can't go after three years, at some point LTIRetirement has to be spoken about between he and management.

I'm being a downer, I know, but I still think there's an extremely big problem if their plan is to start Landeskog game 1 in Dallas.

Landeskog is going to be a monstrous liability jumping straight into postseason speed against a cup contender. If they can't find the cap room to get him some games before the end of the season, I'd wait to start him game 3 where Bednar can at least protect him a bit having the last change.
I think it will be in Winnipeg

It'll be interesting if he's in too much pain to play, but does anyway in the playoffs. Could he only play the playoffs every year? Will have implications on the next CBA.

Landy coming back, we win the cup and he rides into the sunset with another cup and goes LTIR for the rest of his career.........

It would be epic and one of the greatest stories the NHL has ever seen.....

And a big "f*** you" to Tampa, Vegas and the rest of the league".... :D

I prefer this one:

Landy comes back, we win the Cup, he gets a full of summer to keep building up strength and starts next season as a top line forward making only $7m per year on the remainder of his contract. More Cups are won.

If you need help getting your account back from @Sea Eagles, let me know.

Dallas is only 4 points behind Winnipeg with a game in hand. Stranger things have happened.

Winnipeg has a fairly tough schedule remaining while Dallas is pretty much coasting.
