Landeskog Practicing w/Team

I know we want to see him ASAP, but you've got to save that emotional adrenaline for the first home game of the postseason.

Imagine stealing home ice from Dallas before the end of the season and in game 1 you roll out the captain. MacKinnon would be running through brick walls left and right. Grown men would be stealing those noise-canceling headphones off babies to protect their own ears. EJ magically becomes a #1 defenseman again. Cale Makar ascends to divinity.

The Avs could win that game 11-2.
yep get Home ice and roll those plugs

You "think" that based on what?
A hunch. Hence why it's a thought. I think the Avs would value Gulyayev higher than Ritchie given how the Avs like to play, Gulyayev's skill set, what he's shown in a pro league, and what Ritchie showed on the Avs earlier. I think that's why they seemed ok with including Ritchie in a Nelson deal.

If the Avs were ok with moving Gulyayev, we'd probably be looking at someone like Brandon Carlo on our roster right now.

I don’t even think Ritchie would be considered a top 10 player in the OHL this year.
Then you factor in how far off he looked in the NHL, and his poor juniors performance. I’m glad the Avs cut bait, his stock will continue to drop imo.
Tho I’ve never been that high on him.
You're the only person I ever heard suggesting that Ritchie somehow "regressed"

In last month's rankings by Wheeler on the Athletic he had Ritchie at #21 of the top ranked drafted prospects. Gulyayev didn't even crack the top 100. That's how big the gap is between those 2.

and Pronman is even higher on Ritchie than Wheeler is.

It's not because we traded a player that all of a sudden he sucks and he's a bust.

If you’re suggesting placing Makar on LTIR so we can get Landy in the lineup before the playoffs, it’s not that simple. You can’t just fake an injury and LTIR a player when he’s healthy and playing. Manson is possible because he’s actually injured and is week to week with about a month to go before the playoffs. Not sure what’s going on with Wood. He’s currently a healthy scratch I believe, but he is dealing with chronic back pain or something. Can they just LTIR him?
Wood just needs to develop a chronic case Mark Stone syndrome to go on LTIR without any issues

I'm certainly not an expert but I've been ringing the warning bell on Ritchie since the WJC. Just completely lackluster in all aspects of the game. For a kid who already had NHL games under his belt, I was really expecting a lot more polish to his game.

How much of the KHL does Wheeler watch compared to the OHL?

This isn’t a new opinion of mine, I haven’t liked Ritchie for quite a while there are plenty of posts to prove it. Well before the Avs traded him.

How do conditioning stints work with LTIR and the cap. Can Gabe play in the AHL before the end of the season and not count on the cap?

Even if it is just a game or two, if possible, it would make a ton of sense to get him even AHL time.

To answer my own question.

Maybe if accurate.

In the NHL, LTIR (Long-Term Injured Reserve) conditioning stints allow players recovering from long-term injuries to play in AHL games for up to six days or three games, whichever comes first, to assess their readiness.

So, probably they can squeeze a game or two in?

  • Purpose:
The primary goal of an LTIR conditioning stint is to help an injured player regain their game shape and prepare for a potential return to the NHL, without requiring them to be activated from LTIR.

  • Duration:
The stint is limited to a maximum of six days or three games, whichever comes first.

  • Player Status:
While on an LTIR conditioning stint, the player remains on LTIR and continues to receive their NHL salary.

  • Consent Required:
The player must consent to the conditioning stint.

  • Salary Cap Implications:
LTIR does not remove a player's cap hit, but it allows teams to exceed the salary cap while the player is on LTIR.

  • Extensions:
Teams can request an extension to the loan, allowing the player to remain with the AHL affiliate for an additional two games.
