You’re smoking crack if you think chiarot has been playing good, he’s a terrible defenseman and always has been. His analytics are terrible and only looks decent when getting carried by someone else, but he consistently brings down whatever pair he is on.
From what my eyes tell me is Chiarot is a poor man’s Brent Burns - a ‘rover’ where he’s not great offensively nor defensively, but his handful of good play makes many here (including myself) forget about the holes in his game.

But ya also gotta remember that he’s getting more time against other teams top lines - probably more than he should.

Agreed, but the Yzerman regime might just have a ZERO tolerance for headcases, especially after Vrana.
That’s not how you spell Mantha

The issue isn't the record, it's that they've been soundly outplayed in nearly every game so far.
We were badly outplayed by NYR and jets. No problem there, both teams are good and were hot when we met them.
I am happy with the team after these 10 games. Seider has made a huge step forward, Raymond too.
The key is to get Seider and Raymond at the same level as Larkin and then build around it. We might see a very strong 2nd part of this season, to the contrary of the former seasons

His deployment of our defensive pairs, along with the defensive struggles last year makes it very clear he has no clue how to structure the defense.

Some good steps in the right direction with the Buffalo and Chicago games. Not the toughest teams, but still showing improvement.
