As far as I know, one-way just means he's paid the same whether he's in the NHL or not. A two-way would pay him a different salary when he's not in the NHL.

Gotcha, yeah that's what I figured. It will be interesting to see who ends up on waivers.

Campbell and Husso is my guess.

Can't see Husso getting picked up at his salary, someone might take Campbell if they have some injuries in pre-season.

Funny how this goes. Lyon wasn't good at pre-season and Husso looks like he could rebound to form.

It’ll be a while before we know who the real starter is, glad Husso looked good in preseason but that doesn’t mean much.

I don’t love the 3 goalie rotation but it gives us options to figure out if we have an actual number 1 and who that may be.

Jesus, this is bad use of a small sample, even for you Henkka. I'll chalk it up to this being your personal preseason too. Shake the rust off, bud. Let's get those sample sizes up to at least 4 games next time, eh?

I think it's encouraging that he looked good for 111 minutes without shitting the bed like last season. That's almost 2 full games. If he had shit the bed, it would have been him getting waived, not Holl. Preseason or not, even with the limited sample size it was enough to keep him in the NHL. I'm sure practice and scrimmages factored into it as well.

Talbot was brought in to be the starter, so I assume we're gonna get limited sample size for Lyon and Husso this whole season. Talbot got 54 starts last season, so we may see Husso and Lyon for only 14 games each.

I agree. It may drop to 45-50 because of the 11 scheduled back to back games, he's 37, one of the two get hot, flu season, whatever, but he will be close to that 50 mark.

I need more Alex Lyon in my life. Not too much, because we know he can’t handle that. But a bit more. Not even dressing tonight was just too little Alex Lyon.

Exactly, If he doesn't start getting some ice time and making good use of it, they'll have to change his name to Alex Bobcat or something.

In all seriousness, Talbot had a nice shutout, but he's not this good. The love he gets this season will never be higher than it is today. Lyon will definitely be needed, and hopefully his workload will be managed such that he provides good value as a backup/1B. I'm a little more worried about Talbot getting a starter's workload behind this defense.

Welp.

Talbot's played 7 games, Lyon 6. Sounds like a 1A/1B situation to me *shrugs*

And Talbot's outplaying Lyon. Fester would be stupid not to give Talbot more games, especially with his job on the line. He's only had one crappy start in 6 games, and it was against the Rangers. Absolutely stole the last 2 games along with the shutout against the Preds.

Either way, Husso's out of the picture entirely, and he's the one who's making more money than Talbot.

Think the split is just right one.

Last season they had:
- Talbot 54 games
- Lyon 44 games

Share: Talbot played ~55% more games than Lyon. For current season the 7 vs. 6 split is already same at ~54%.

For current season that 55-45 split would be:
- Talbot 46 games
- Lyon 36 games
- Husso 1 game.

That split looks about right. I wouldn't want to see one over 50 if we can avoid it. I don't think Lyon could hold up to that and Talbot isn't a spring chicken. Talbot has been really solid thus far for the Wings and has shown he can be a starter in this league. Lyon is a bit streaky so if he heats up I have no issue playing him a bit more.
