The 1C is Anze Kopitar I don’t see anyone on that team knocking off the captain as 1C next season.

I expected Byfield to get a similar deal to Slafkovsky. I guess the fact that Slaf's contract doesn't start before next year, is 3 years longer and eats some UFA years kind of makes it similar if you adjust for all these factors.

Nontheless, that's a nice contract that is very team friendly. Depending on the players strategy and where the team is in 5 years, we will see if it was the right choice.

It buys a ufa year. Contract runs until Q is 27. So if LA is where they want to be by the end of this deal should be able to keep him til 35.
