Hoven article regarding Holland fwiw. A couple key points:
- deal to be announced in the next three days (depending on paperwork issues)
- Ken Holland's son, Brad Holland (currently with Edmonton) may join him in Hockey Operations
- He's alluding to Emerson having a different role instead of Assistant GM.
- Suggests that whomever is the next Assistant GM will be groomed to take over in a longer term (hence why Emerson's role will change).

Glad you are happy with a coach that brought in Newll Brown to run our lethal power play, sat the kids and killed our vets in the playoffs, built a room that was comfy sitting back and protecting when it hadn’t worked in three years, made a challenge that was criticized across a continent, erased the stripes off the tigers all because he got us 105 points in a 3 point era with a bunch of watered down teams in our division and league. Frig, the most fire we seen out of the team was from him acting like a baby when Bernstein started to call him out.

There are surely a lot of way worse options but I would have perfered a younger more long term approach. Someone who would build a team slowly but surely.

I was cranky last night. I would be all for keeping Heller on as an assistant coach and letting Brown go.

Hitler does have a lot of good qualities, he just really bombed it in the playoffs.

The biggest thing is, he seems to be able to relate to a lot of the players.

If you could have a hybrid style coach somewhere between Torts and Hiller I’d be happy.

I think a perfect hockey team would be somewhere between Smash Mouth hockey and a skilled juggernaut

Brad Holland hasn’t been with the Oilers for a year, but if the Kings do bring him in, I don’t think it’s the worst thing. Most Oilers fans had a favourable opinion of him. It’s been mentioned in this thread already, but he was more analytically driven and had some good insights on key signings and trades. Optics are obviously not good, but he’s probably a good person to have in the FO.

Tough to get excited since Luc still has a seat at the grownup table. Waiting on any judgment until after he starts making moves. Thinking the next couple seasons are all about 11 & 8, so not expecting too much to change.
