Speculation: LAK GM Search

That War & Peace thing was a perfect example of a moment where everybody talked about something Lombardi did as being brilliant and groundbreaking and visionary and I just scrunched up my nose and said "that's the dumbest thing I ever heard"
I wouldn't say most of the people explicitly use this as evidence of being a brilliand and groundbreaking visionary.

His vision has certainly been celebrated, but not necessarily because of this.

But if it wasn't a joke, people appreciated the creativity of trying to connect with a player.

I am not seeing the reference here other than Ron Swanson being an American hero

I honestly don't know - but would like to hear from the group why Holland would be a bad choice.
Holland is not a good GM. See the job he did in Edmonton. When he was in Detroit he had it easy, he was able to spend 90 million while most teams in the league were at 45. To me he would be one of the worst hires in a cap league.

He has 6 playoff series wins in last 3 years he was there....better than Blake.

Did you see his work at his last stop. He is terrible. Also is Luc boyfriend so there would be no change in how the team is ran or style. We need freash blood and ideas. If it’s anyone with the team or an ex player it’s a fail.
Yes I did. He made some great trades.

One thing I like about him is he makes some bold moves like Suban for Webber.. But the thing that bugs me about him is the Luc connection combined with that quebecois thing like sergachev for drouin - and im sure his fingers in the PLD for Vilardi.. so two negatives - a probably subconcious bias toward quebecois players and being way too close to Luc.

I've felt it will be Bergevin and it will only not be him if Bergevin passes on the offer.

Not the greatest drafting resume, although he was usually drafting at the end of the 1st. No real hits in the later rounds, Lehkonen in Round 2 is his best player outside of Round 1. Full marks for taking Caufield in 2019. Sergachev a good draft pick at 9OA, but then he trades him in a bad deal.

Not big PIM figures as a player, but I will always remember him boarding Lapperriere at The Forum in 1998 in the last regular season game before the Kings and Blues faced off in the 1st round that year. Blues came in and bullied the Kings a bit. Bergevin boarded Lappy in what looked like a pretty bad hit, but he was milking it for a major penalty. In comes McKenna to fight Bergevin, as he should, but Bergevin made him look silly and beat him in the fight.

Based on that, I thought he was a pretty tough dude. Has some nice names on his fight card. Here he is doing very well against a great fighter in Owen Nolan:

LA would be utter fools to pass up Darche.

So they’ll probably just promote Emerson.
Like Emerson, see like an affable guy, but would not want as gma and let's be honest do you want Gm while trying to make a deal with another , Gm to end most sentences with the word Right, every time I hear him speak I swear he ends it with Right, like ending sentence with a question. He seems like a good guy, gm material, no. The other thing is would he be where he's at if not for Blake?

Nelson would be perfect for this squad.

Bergevin is a presence. I've met him in passing - he is still jacked and in shape and appears a bit intimidating - I felt Rob Blake gave off the same aura. I know Marc is respected around the league.

I always just thought it was a good example of DL actually being kind of a f***ing weirdo in an endearing way rather than this almost sorpranos vibe people attribute to him

Seems like he's got a better personality and sense of humor than Blake, who always had a stick up his ass. He's not my first choice, but I'm happy Blake is gone from the organization.

I feel like we never would have seen this kind of access with a Blake led front-office. Even Friedman said it on 32 thoughts earlier this week, that Blake was always nice to him, but that he was very secretive about the team.

Jesse’s podcast dives into that as well…just about how he kept his trades under wraps, nobody ever knew they were coming.
