Iafallo straight up. His performance last night makes it an easy trade to make…I do not think it will be enough for the best goalie prospect in the world (Wallstedt).
We will need to add one of our forward prospects (Chromiak or Pinelli) and goalie prospect as well.
I know it is overpayment, but to me it is the only way to get Wallstedt out of Minnesota.
That is why Kings need to check goalie prospects for all NHL teams and make the best trade possible for Faber.
This is a bit unfortunate, I think for a player like Faber leaving after the sophomore year is the best and most proven way to have NHL success and he would have gotten great development from the coaches in Ontario. If it's depth chart/playing time related it's to bad because if he were a similar caliber forward he might have been able to jump into the NHL lineup right away, but the Kings can't offer that to a defenseman.
But on the bright side, staying a year longer than what is right is not going to be as damaging as leaving a year early would have been.
Minnesota will be the pre-season #1 if the Faber and Knies return to school.
Hell yeah. But I highly doubt Minisoda will do that. He's the goalie of their future. But man one can dream.
Let's all hope he doesn't pull a freakin Adam Fox. Ouch.
Is April 2024 the date to worry about or is it April 2023? If Faber decides in 12 months to do 4 years at college, doesn’t that mean he’s going to be a UFA in 2024?
I imagine the time to worry is this time next year if he decides to go back once again. Is April 2024 the date to worry about or is it April 2023? If Faber decides in 12 months to do 4 years at college, doesn’t that mean he’s going to be a UFA in 2024?
A sinking feeling. I have a feeling Brock's relationship with his sister and Minnesota ties, may have him just playing out his 4 years and signing with the Wild. Watch the video. He is all about family and his sister.
You can just get a feeling that she has asked him to stay there and play for the Wild, so her and family can stay close and she can see all of his games there. No, it's not a reach. He also seems like a standup guy and has lots of character, so I can also see him being loyal to the Kings...but not like he would be to his sister. Being that way, maybe he would ask the Kings to deal his rights to the Wild, so that the Kings can get something for him.
I just can't see Paige coming out to LA and watching him play. This family is 'so Minnesota' and tight.
Faber to Wild for #2 2022 and Jesper Wallstedt.
or
Faber to Wld for #1 2022 and LHD Carson Lambos
Just not feeling so good about this.
I hope you are correct SirFaber will not stay for his senior year. You guys will be fine.
Right. The player holds all the leverage in this situation. There is almost zero financial upside to playing in the minors on an ELC if an nhl roster spot is realistically available. 30 guaranteed nhl games eclipses a full season of AHL pay.I imagine the time to worry is this time next year if he decides to go back once again.
When it comes to trade chips, Faber going back for his Junior season might push him to the top of the RHD list. We all love the player but it would be catastrophic if he strung the Kings along and they had to deal him under the pressure of knowing he'll never sign here.
Some Twitter scuttlebutt, no idea if it's accurate. Assuming it is, then sitting there with Blake watching the Kings give up six unanswered after declining that offer must have been interesting.
I think it has to be hard for a young guy playing for his hometown team and just coming off a loss in the NCAA final to separate himself from it and start thinking about anything else. I'm not worried yet, but it's a situation to keep an eye on, especially if Minnesota comes close again without winning it next year.
Hard to say... they did something similar with Daniel Brickley back in 2018 when they wanted to lure him in as a free agent out of college and he did in fact come straight into the Kings lineup (I think it was for the last game of the season). The enticement was that he gets into an NHL game and (if I recall correctly, someone will correct me if I'm wrong) it also burns the first year of the ELC.i... don't believe that. that just seems like fantasy talk to me to offer a kid a spot like that
Yeah, I call bullshit on that report. Every game now is the most important game of the season with the Kings fighting for their playoff lives and they're just going to toss in a rookie with little practice time with the team 3 days after being eliminated from the Frozen Four? Highly unlikely. LMAO what kind of message does that send to the locker room? I know you've never skated with this kid ever, but we really want to sign him now and we need to play him in this super high leverage game. Right.
What's better for Faber's development, a season back in Minnesota or a season in Ontario? I don't know, so I'm asking.
