It's not like there's a good choice.

I'd like a series against the Sharks, because you have to figure it would be filled with emotion. 20 playoff games between the 2 teams since 2011(plus everything in the regular season). A 10-10 record. 6-4 at home, 4-6 on the road. 60 goals for the Kings, 52 for the Sharks. 5 OT games. Two Game 7's. Crazy comeback in Game 3 for the Sharks in 2011. The 0-3 comeback. The Sharks won a series in LA. The Kings won a series in SJ. That's what history is all about right there.

There's no emotional connection to Nashville. They've played some weird games over the years with the Kings, but no important ones. It would be new and different for sure.

Gravel is very easy to like because unlike McNabb, Schenn, and Scuderi, the kid can skate!! He's good as well!! With that said, I'm telling everyone Forbort belongs here possibly as well. Forbort skates well also. To me they are very even, but both with more playing time won't stammer around like the three tortoises!! Hopefully they both end up playing full time on the Kings next year. They also play well together.

I think both Forbort and Gravel will be permanent next year. Gravel made an amazing back check last night to break up a breakaway (although it was also partly caused by him falling down in the offensive zone).

I like McNabb, I think he will stir some **** up over the course of a 7 game series.

ummm they stole the gold helmet look from the 1970 kings...they deserve to pay.

After Carter's OT game winner, did you catch the Kings fan giving the finger(s) to the Flames fan next to her? she's kinda hot giving him the business

I did see that. She was spanking herself too in his face. The camera tried to do a close up on the people next to her to block her out. It was hysterical.

I'm 100% ready to play McBain and Gravel over McNabb and Schenn.

100% agree with this statement.

also some people's 4th line whipping boy, Andreoff, has more goals combined than
a whole other kings 4th line: SHORE / CLIFFORD / NOLAN

Nice to see this from AA since I fully believed watching him develop that he would thrive
in the NHL. hopefully he continues to chip in. 4th line scoring is a must as we get into
the playoffs.

I don't know why you guys are down on McNabb/Schenn. They were both out together at one point, might have been a PK. McNabb flattened one guy. Schenn nails another. within 10 seconds of the first guy, McNabb flattened a second guy. Just hilarious. So they're slow. Knocking guys on their ass is worth it. If they get burned that's why the team has the best goalie in net.

You guys just worry too much.

i think it comes to hockey IQ. sure the physicality is nice. As kings fans spoiled from the last 4 years of reliable smart D-cores... when a player like Schenn and Mcnabb are on the ice it's blatantly obvious to me that these two are players with not the best hockey IQ...their decision making is questionable and hesitant. Hitting is important in the playoffs, but EVERYONE on the team gets physical in the playoffs.. even carter and kopitar ramp it up... I want smart, reliable, non-hesitant play...especially coming from the back end. Let's face it... our PK hasn't been very good this year... you want McNabb sitting in the box 4 minutes a game with a bonehead penalty? I think if Schenn can revert to his first few games as a king then i wouldn't worry, i think lately he's been in his head...His play is tailing off. Though my opinion of McNabb is much worse, he's been given a real shot the last 2 years to establish himself, and i haven't seen much improvement or growth. I'm pretty much over this experiment. I'm ready for a gravel experiment, i already see more promise on LD with #53

also - someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think Sutter's gone back full-time to the pairings that worked during that short streak where we thrashed basically every good team and clinched.

I'm curious to see what the lineup will be like next game. Gravel seems to be the type of D we need for the playoffs, defense first mindset but has offensive skills (Like his zone enter on the PP that no other Kings player seems to be able to do). Andreoff has been solid and is exactly what we need on the 4th line, I say he's a keeper for playoffs. I also hope Dowd can crack the lineup again, he was great when he was here, always made some good plays.

I don't doubt that Sutter will go with experience (Scuderi, Schenn) over Gravel, McBain, et. al.

That being said, in limited action, Gravel has looked better in every way than everyone not named Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez; going forward (next year), he'll stick on the roster, and having those five guys in Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, Gravel, McNabb will be a fantastic d-core.

When McNabb was playing on instincts, he was much better. Now the guy looks like he is just trying to not make mistakes, which of course leads to making them. Schenn has also tightened up, he was much looser when he got here. There are expectations here, so it might be getting to him a bit. This is unvisited territory for those two.

I think Gravel will be Schenn's replacement, for no other reason than salary. Schenn and McNabb are essentially interchangeable, one is just going to be much cheaper. I'm just happy we have another defensman who looks to be solid and developed in-house.

Schenn played like Scheyt last night... McNabb getting better. Gravel will be with the big club next year.

Lucky to have the win..

They were losing so i turned the channel and started watching N.C.I.S. When i turned back to the game it was over, so i thought they lost again. I only found out today, that they won when logged on LAKINGS.com

Worried Gravel is going to get snubbed, he looks really good for a rookie Dman, poised with the puck and skates well. I'd rather have him over Scuds/Schenn at this point. Dowd over Shore makes sense, as Dowd has more size and hockey IQ, Shore just doesn't bring much at all (maybe faceoffs). AA seems to have solidified himself at the bottom with those 7 goals.

I think Shore looked better after a break but him and Dowd are pretty interchangeable at this point, Dowd maybe better offensively, Shore less risky.

I agree with Gravel about poise, my goodness is he ever smart.

I definitely think Gravel could be interchanged with one of Scuderi/Schenn.
McNabb had a pretty great game last night, if he plays like that in the playoffs I have hope for our D core.
But man Gravel is great, he had a crazy backcheck on a breakaway I think it was, totally thought he wasn't gonna get him then he used his huge stick to poke check the puck away.

a different vibe with Dowd vs Shore on the ice for me...

Dowd seems tenacious and aggressive on the puck and trying to make a play. He had a couple of turnovers the game after last that made me cringe.

Shore seems like he's always hesitant/passive with the puck..

Yeah, I think the Kings have shown they're willing to give more leeway possession-wise with defensemen (see also Regehr, Greene) who will make.them.pay.

So does that mean you snooze, you lose.............we win?

Whereas most others coach for Oct, Nov and Dec.

He even pointed out his player usage in those quotes, haha. Subtle trolling of the coaches (ahem) stacking Couture/Pavs/Thornton/Burns on a line vs. Andreoff/Versteeg/Clifford/Schenn/Scuderi then celebrating like it's game 7 :sarcasm:
