I'd rather drew hit 16 goals
I really hope he scores 40 this year. It would be the first 40 goal season in LA since Palffy, right?

Edit: Nope, I'm still looking, but Palffy only hit 38 in 2001. Luc hit 39 in 1999. I'll have to keep digging, but it looks like Toffoli, if he cracks 40, would be the first to do so since the Gretzky era.

Edit edit: Unless I completely missed something, the last 40 goal scorer on the Kings was Luc in 93/94 (44).

So if Toffoli reaches that milestone, he would be the first Kings 40 goal man in 23 years.

Kings have now matched the largest points margin leading their division at 12 points, the record that was set on January 2 of this year.

On pace (and I should add, a consistent pace) to end up with 111 points this season.

60 points before anyone else in the division hit 50. Some of that being the other teams struggling, but usually the Kings would be down in the thick of it. Then they're 20-8-3 outside of the division. All that with Gaborik, Pearson, and Brown with career lows in sh%. Add in Lewis to make it a foursome, and 4 out of the top 9 guys in shots on net can barely buy a goal this year.

It helps that Kopitar has found himself in a bounce back season so far, Toffoli looking at a career year, Carter and Lucic doing their thing, Doughty and Muzzin, and then Quick with the second highest sv% of his career.

Vinny's absolute BOMB last night was ****ing insane. Welcome to the nip show.

Tyler Toffoli (+2) had his goal streak end at three games but has posted an even-or-better rating in 30 consecutive games. He has been a minus-player only twice this year (10/13/15 L vs VAN; 11/10/15 L vs ARI).

That is impressive.

Quicky with some world class saves in the 3rd period last night. If that was Lundquist or some other EST sweetheart goalie with those stops when the east coast fans were still awake, they'd all be clamoring on the main board/espn/siriusxm about how they are the best goalie in the world.

Unlike guys like Brown and Richards that with age seemed to have completely lost whatever hands they had, Lecavalier once had an elite pair of hands and his are still pretty good.

He looks great in the Kings' system right now. Sutter has a lot of time to figure out how to get the most out of this lineup with different combinations. If Brown would crash the net, I wonder how a line of

Brown - Lecavalier - Gaborik

would do in generating some bottom six offense.

I look forward to the Kings meeting either the Stars or the Blackhawks in the conference finals in June. So much fun.

They all went to bed when his save percentage was .400, never to be seen again.

Martinez on the postgame talking about chest bumps with Lucic.

"Yeah, they're fun. 2 bumps for 2 points."

I think that's the philosophy that got Stoll into trouble.

I agree.
I think Richards and Brown's games rely alot more on physicality. VL has always had good hands and great board play. I think as one ages it obvious which one is more sustainable.
It is why I am not overly concerned by Kopitars deal.

Let's not get carried away. Lecavalier is still a decent player, but he isn't close to being worth a $10M AAV. Lecavalier is fine in his role as a 3C, given his cap hit for right now.

Kopitar and the Kings aren't going to have the luxury of seeing his production slowly decline as most players do as they enter their 30's.

That was a fun game to watch. Literally was whiskey for most of the game, I think that helped.

where did I even suggest VL was worth $10M?

You sort of equating Vinny's game as a reason why you are not too worried about Kopitar's contract. Vinny's last 70-point season was in 2009-2010, then he had a dramatic drop off. That was when he was 30 years old. I wouldn't take Vinny still being able to perform at an acceptable level in a 3C role as a reason to not worry about the Kopitar contract.

The Kings cannot afford to have Kopitar's career and production follow the same arc as that of Lecavalier.

The Kings need Kopitar to be a 70-point player for quite some time.

Back to the game, and the immediate future though. It's great to see the Kings firing on almost all cylinders. I still think Carter is a little banged up. It would be nice to pad the lead and see him get some additional time off to heal up. Kopitar, Carter, Lecavalier, Lewis/Shore looks pretty good down the middle heading into the playoffs.

jesus that's alot of jumping off. I said I am not worried about Kopitar dropping off like Richards/Brown as he does not rely on physicality, and that is a reason why I am not concerned by the deal. There are reason I am concerned and reasons am I not cornered. This is a reason I am not as concerned.
Don't read more into that.

13-2-1, 43GF, 27GA at home against non-Pacific opponents
2-5, 13GF, 22GA at home against Pacific opponents

7-6-2, 29GF, 36GA on the road against non-Pacific opponents
7-0, 27GF, 11GA on the road against Pacific opponents

So, if the Kings have home ice in the first round, these stats would seem to indicate that it might be BETTER to have the crossover come into play, and have the Kings play a Central team in the first round?

Seems that way. A month ago the world would have ended if they won the division due to having to play a central team (some of that had to do with Chicago).
