He's just terrible. Who ever heard of someone winning the Norris for playing defense? MOAR GOALS

No man, its all about points, points, points! He needs to sacrafice defense for risky offensive chances and start to close the gap with Karlsson. 14th place in scoring will never win a Norris.

Still miss Simmonds.

Word. Mersch looks like he might bring some of that tough, net-seeking-missile play, but Simmonds definitely plays top notch Kings-style hockey. You can never have too many physical 30-goal scorers.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I could see McNabb turning into a Willie Mitchell type defender.

I've seen people on here lately saying he doesn't have that potential but I really think he does. Maybe not Mitchell at his best but maybe a slightly less steady version. Either way, I think he is on his way to becoming a top 4 guy. He still has work but I think the potential is there. I do think Mitchell is a better skater and that helped with his positioning greatly.

Simmonds wouldn't be a 30-goal scorer in LA. To be honest, I'm surprised he hasn't scored more in that laissez-faire Flyers system. Hell, I could pot 15 goals.

People who stand up during play should take a Drew Doughty shot to the head.

A one-timer? Or will there be enough time for the person to look around for an object to shield him/her, run to pick up the object, run back in place, then hold the object up to protect his/her head?

Preferably a one-timer, though a Jake Muzzin shot into the shins wouldn't be so bad either. That'll make 'em sit down.

I'm just still really glad the Kings beat this garbage team... seriously... it's so great to beat bad teams that you're supposed to beat so the Troll's go back to the bridge they were living under and you don't have to feel shame. :handclap:

That's right, mark this day in history. January 2, 2016 eclipses February 2, 1981, the last time a Kings team had an 11-point lead in the division.

Who knows, the record might increase. This division is sucky-bad the sky is the limit.

I posted this in the playoff points thread, but thought it merited mention here, as it's just mindblowing (to me, at least).

Projecting current records over 82 games (which never happens), the math says the Kings would win the division with 87 points. That requires a .397 percentage, or a record of 16-25-3.

Un-freaking-real, man. Can't last the whole season this way, but still...

2nd goal is in the playbook! compare it to this one, just one week ago dd scored against coyotes in pp, 2nd assist by kopi again, 1st martinez.

Yes, and if you watch the highlights, the goal he scored on the PP in the first period yesterday is actually the second shot he took from the same exact location earlier in the PP. Definitely in the playbook.

He also scored on a similar rocket a couple of weeks ago, on the PP, from the right side location.

That play reminds me of another 8 in Washington. Looks like this will be used until teams overplay it, then DD can slide a pass over to the middle of a shot on an open net.

Was sitting behind the net yesterday...Ain't a goalie on this planet that stops that shot. Wasn't just a rocket, it was accurate as ****! Reminds me of Jari Kurri's one-timer in EDM with Gretz. Otto-Matic!

By the way, as recently as last season, it would have gone 6" wide and cleared the zone for the opponent killing a penalty.

Clearly something he's worked on this season.
