In that case, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to your biggest division lead in franchise history...at least for now :handclap: :handclap: :handclap:

We'll end the day with this lead. Vancouver is off and San Jose can only tie Arizona in points with a win tonight.

That's right, mark this day in history. January 2, 2016 eclipses February 2, 1981, the last time a Kings team had an 11-point lead in the division.

Who knows, the record might increase. This division is sucky-bad the sky is the limit.

Let's hope the Kings don't do what the '81 Kings did with their 11-pt lead(lose it to Montreal).

Also...

Kings sweep their season series with the Flyers for the first time in franchise history. lol

Did Doughty get banged up in the 3rd? He seemed a little off the last couple of shifts... maybe he was 100% staying back on defense and it looked a little strange.

Per Nick on the radio
Doughty is the only player in the league to
Lead his own team in total TOI
Total PP time
Total 5 on 5
And ( important word)
Total PK time.
That is an all around defensive player.
He leads the Kings in every category

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I could see McNabb turning into a Willie Mitchell type defender.

Let's hope so. To be honest under the Kings' developmental staff and with Sutter and his coaching staff it seems that just about every defensemen in the Kings' system reaches their max potential.

What a great way to start the afternoon. I'm going to go get a gigantic shake, open some windows, and binge hockey the rest of the night resting easy with a gigantic Pacifsuck division lead.

You're not going to watch the Cactus Bowl?

I know this means nothing and only happened because he missed 8 weeks so far this year, but with todays win, Quick passed Carey Price on the all-time/active wins lists with 234. Something about that made me laugh.

If he can find consistency... One game, he looks like he belongs on our top 4, next game, I'm ready to send him packing.

I know, he's young, he'll make mistakes, and we need to give him time, just like we did with Muzzin. But its a lot harder for me to be so forgiving when we're in "win-now" mode.

My fear is that he sometimes makes very poor reads in the defensive zone. I he has the hockey IQ to learn.

Doesn't mean squat to the hockey writers because...POINTS!

Good strong game,Quick was awesome as was Drew. The pushback after the Flyers pp goal was something the Kings really had to weather. I'm probably nitpicking but up 2-0 in the 2nd and Sutter puts out the 2nd and 3rd unit pp and it was a disaster. The top unit never got a whiff.I can see him doing this when you have a big lead late in the game, but that was not the time to do it.

Nice win. Quick is amazing.

ESPN needs to change the person that does Kings highlights. She kept on pronouncing Drew's name as Doty.

LOL. Man do I love revisionist history. This board shipped Muzzin out so many times for a bag of pucks you'd need a calculator to add them up.

The third unit was by far the best unit on that last pp.

Should have never been this close but because of our overrated goalie and not deserving Norris Trophy defenseman we freakin got two points.

He's just terrible. Who ever heard of someone winning the Norris for playing defense? MOAR GOALS

1 thing that was apparent from this game was the lack of a clutch center. At the end of the game Kopitar had just gone off and Lewis was taking the face off with the Flyers goalie pulled. Even when Carter gets back the Kings need a better option for big defensive draws.

Edit:

It's great!!! Doughty is really competitive and it looks like he'll have to work on his offensive game to chase after some stupid trophy... and the Kings come out as winners!
