It's context. Greene undeservedly played over McNabb last season when Marty came back from injury. McNabb was playing great, but Greene, being the vet got the benefit of the doubt over the rookie and that was a mistake in hindsight. Hell, we all saw it when it was happening so it's not even hindsight. I'm sure that Sutter will re-insert Greene back into the lineup for the same exact reasoning he kept him in over McNabb last season. I haven't seen good hockey from Greene in quite awhile and I have a feeling the defense is going to suffer when he's in there again. He was "healthy" for 82 games last season. He wasn't good because he's not good anymore.
Marty has paired well with Muzzin and if Sutter breaks that pairing up just to give Greene a familiar partner, then here we go again. Pairing Marty with Regehr and Greene last season was a bust. Forbort has a better future (and I think present) with the Kings than Greene does. He's been nondescript paired with Ehrhoff and that's a good thing. Forbort's been seasoned in the pipeline for years now. He's ready, otherwise they would've sent him down and kept Schultz up. I don't have a lot of faith that Greene at his age and physical condition is going to have some late season 2014 resurgence. Remember, Greene was scratched a lot in 2014 in favor of Regehr. It wasn't until Regehr got injured did Greene get back in the lineup.
