Sometimes I feel like I am Laine. If I only had his shot, or his frame, or his rugged good looks.

Laine has grown his hair out btw, I think him getting his flow back is essential.
What hair  ?!

But, oh man, what a lady he (Laine) has around his arm!

I scratch my head almost bald over winning only one game (against Sweden of corse!) in this pre-Olympic tournament.
Not with that Finland defense no way.

Laine before 4 nations:
- playing in 4th line with nobodies
- hated by his former teams and their fanbases.
- trade value even worse than before.
- lazy, no points in last 8 games, playing very bad.

Laine during 4 nations:
- top 6 forward playing with top NHL players.
- loved by his teammates and fans.
- can pot 1-2 PP goals per game and points on ES.
- happy, hard working, looking like a stud.

Laine after 4 nations?
- a prime trade asset.
- adored by fans all around the league.
- potting PP goals AND playing with top guys of Habs.
- looking like a new man, showing leadership qualities.

IMO Laine is THE biggest winner of 4 nations if the "during" part of this post materializes.

Thoughts? Any other big winners? We can also use this thread to keep track of goals and points of Laine, post videos of his best moments from each game etc.
You've got a problem.

I don't hate Laine, I'd still take him back on the Jets. I watch hockey to be entertained and Laine is very entertaining. Yeah, he has his flaws, but I think the rest of the team can make up for them easily.

As a Jets fan I don’t want this guy anywhere near the Jets. When he was 18-19 it was fun for a bit but his act wore thin and it has gotten worse. I hope he figures it out and finds peace but he would be a major liability to our team and to my entertainment value.

He may be immature and says & does dumb things, but I believe he wants to be better than he actually is. He wants to be as good as his fans want him to be. And that's hard to hate. And I'd imagine it's hard to try and live up to the expectation his God given abilities (tall, HoF shot) on a "night in - night out" basis.

Totally OK to hate him though. That makes sports and rooting for a team so much more enjoyable. I hate Nash not because he left for NYR, but I don't think ( at the time) he cared about getting better as a player or teammate. He was just going along for the ride while everyone worshipped him. So no, I'm not a kind hearted person lol
You can just call them his parents you know.

From what I've "heard" (don't ask for sources) and my own gut instinct is; Laine has been a celebrity in Finland his whole life, came to America as a superstar. He doesn't need to grow up because his money and the success he's already experienced. Seen it too many times, most of them fizzle out; it's too pathetic to hate.

Belive it or not ; the same goes for Elias Pettersson a soft one for egotism; too bad too sad another Northern chap involved. Vanvouver will not probably live a shakedown with J.T Miller out - while Montreal will so much with Patrik Laine in.

Habs fan hoping like heck Laine has a good week and somehow their GM can parlay that into some kind of trade that does not cost the Habs a pick or prospect AND retention.

...no...Hughes knew that if Laine didn't turn it around, he'd just remain "The Enigma" here for the next year and a half until his contract runs out...cuz the Habs don't need the Cap, we're not contending yet...and we got a 2nd to take him and only "lost" one of the plethora of 3rd Pairing LDs we have...so no, it didn't work out "awesome"; it worked out like they (and every rational fan) thought it would...at least so far...this shyte's not done yet... :thumbu:

I don't really know if that's the case, he comes from a rather humble background, and he had some pretty big struggles along the way. Before the junior world championships, he was mainly known to the public as the troubled kid who cussed at his coach and was sanctioned because of it.

If anything, I think his lack of a rich kid/privileged background has left him a bit unprepared to deal with locker room etiquette and media pressure, compared to the average NHLer. He's the first athlete in his family, while many other hockey players seem to come from families that have had previous success in sports. Not the sort of blue collar, working class background that Laine comes from.

I'm starting to suspect OP is either Laine's gf/psychologist or Laine himself. Bigger Homer than Greg Simpson and Matthews. And that's saying something.
Just so you know:
- if I was Laine's gf I would right now be touching myself.
- if I was Laine I would right now be touching my gf.
- if I was Laine's psychologist.. which Im not.

So I can guarantee you are wrong as I am NOT touching myself, or my gf (Im married), and I dont work as a psychologist, they work on me.

...everything you need to know about Patrik Laine's play:

...he's the RED arrow, in case you didn't realise...
Yeah, no. Like mentioned earlier, that's Sidney Crosby watching Marleau's shorthanded goal in Penguins vs. Sharks game over 10 years ago. And then you even went on and explained all things Laine did wrong in that clip. :D

What's next, the classic Ovi controller disconnected clip purported as a Laine failure? It's not that Laine wouldn't have his own challenges. But blaming him for everything like this gets old. Even if you'd actually find real Laine in the same situation, he would just be in good company, correct?

Dude you're nothing compared to some of the old farts that posted here when he was drafted, they actually thought he would be better than Matthews.
Hmmm. As I remember it the argument was who would eventually have the better hair.

Right now it’s a neck and neck race!

Currently Matthews beforehead, forehead and afterhead has him just behind laines paper thin blonde combover.
