Laine pronunciation

Dont mean to be a "pronunciation Nazi", but can we try and get his name correct for the rest of his career as HE says it for once?

Pretty much sounds like "Line" and not "Line-AY" as weve been hearing on TSN and Sportsnet.

Laine is trying too much with his English so he says it "English" way. I've noticed that earlier too, Finns say their names wrong sometimes when they speak English.

Because Laine is a somewhat common name in English as well. Easy thing to confuse.

I've been actually impressed how well North Americans can pronounce his name.

Usually you have to "press a mental switch" to change between English and Finnish pronunciation because they're worlds apart and I assume that's why he pauses before and after saying his name and why he messed up his name at Cherry's(Has happened to me too).

It's not "line". It's not "line-ay" either, but that's what we usually substitute in English. It actually ends in a short "e" sound, [ɛ], but in English words don't end with that sound, so it's very unnatural for us.

You pronounce every letter as it is if you want the true pronunciation. Listen to some Finnish commentators if you want to fully understand how it's said.

Easiest way I've seen it explained is Line-eh (but "eh" as in the sound in "meh")

Every letter in Finnish is always pronounced and always pronounced the same way (so for example there aren't any GIF vs JIF debates, or "how do you write that?").
