Do the Kings still need somebody like Fiala, (since it looks like the Wild will end up moving him) and would they consider including Faber in a package for him?

The Wild could use a RHD prospect like Faber, imo. Yes I am a homer and love the kid's game.

edit - In the offseason of course.
Kings do not need Fiala

Faber can be traded for Wallstedt, but not for Fiala

The original proposal was more enticing from a Minnesota perspective and all their fans are turning it down so why would you lower the offer?
Is it really lower? This is an honest question, a guy that fits your core, signed to a low salary for 3 more seasons who can play anywhere in your lineup… consistent player comparable to Coleman, Hagel and Lehkonen, again with the exception that he’s signed to term.. and keep in mind what those players cost
I would have said Trevor Moore but he’s a FA.. so I don’t think he fits what you guys are building..

Kings absolutely need proven scoring, especially on the wings. Why can’t they trade Faber for a proven scorer but they can trade him for an unproven goalie prospect?
Because:

  • This unproven goalie prospect is the best goalie prospect in the world and can become one of the best goalies in the world
  • Kings do not have elite goalie prospects and Cal Peterson is big question mark
  • A proven scorer is good not great player and will require new expensive contract

Your explanation does not work at all.

Would you trade Clarke for Greenway?

The question is what is Wally’s value?
What’s his worth on the trade market considering goaltenders are dime a dozen..
this is the Kings looking to the future considering Cal has 3 years left and they aren’t eating $5 mill per, while the Wild are currently in a position where they’ll be a consistent playoff contender barring injury and will add to their offense..
What’s Iafallo’s value considering the Coleman trade to TBL or Hagel to TBL or Lehkonen to Avs??
Are those guys that much better than Iafallo? I know all of them are making it will be making more pretty soon… so what’s his value if those guys went for 1st++

That’s how you value a player + term + salary + plus team need..

Now I hope that answers that question and we still with these asinine suggests that the value is fair… Clarke for Greenway, don’t ridiculous, geez

This all skips past two more important questions: would Minnesota consider trading Wallstedt, and would they be interested in adding Iafallo?

The answer to the first is "no" and the answer to the second is "probably not."

Pretty much, I think trading Wally is a no-no.. the Kings tried hard to trade back into the 1st round to get him.. he’s going to be a good one, I brought up Iafallo because of how valuable that type of player is.. he’s been replaced by local kid Trevor Moore on the 2nd line and Kaliyev likely bumps him out of the top 6..
If Minny didn’t have a need for him I’d say it was fair-ish value but you would have to overpay to pry him away at this point

For me, if I’m trading away a top prospect, I’m either looking to add to him for a star player (think the Richards/Schenn trade), or get a top prospect in return that might make more sense positionally for my team. Aside from the idiotic Erat/Forsberg trade, rarely is a top prospect traded away for a supporting role player. Iafallo is a good player, but hardly the type of player you give up a top prospect for.

Minnesota has literally no depth at goaltending outside of Wallstadt. They traded Kahkonen, couldn't sign Lindberg, Jones is a freaking disaster in net (lost his starting position in the ECHL to a backup goaltender in college). Their depth is simply Wallstadt and that's it.

I completely understand that stance…
I just don’t see a goaltender having that value considering how low the prices are on goaltender trades.. without a doubt it would be Iafallo+… what that plus is idk, we have RHD up the wazoo and intriguing players like Samuel Fagemo or maybe a high pick or maybe a 3 team trade

To LA:

Jesper Wallstedt, G (SHL)

To MINN:

Brock Faber, D (College)

Alex Turcotte, C (AHL)

LA's system is lacking an elite Goalie prospect. Jesper ends this deficit. Have heard the Kings tried to move up from the 2nd round to draft him when he fell a bit in the last draft. The Kings are flush with Centers and Right Handed D.

The Wild receive Faber, a 19 year old local high IQ defensive prospect and 2020 2nd round pick, who can make clean breakout passes consistently and use his skating to evade fore-checkers. The Wild could especially use a well regarded RHD prospect. With Turcotte, he has had injury problems and might just need a fresh start to put that behind him. The former 5th overall pick in the 2019 draft just turned 21 years old.

Pass mustard?
No thanks, certainly not for Faber.

Im sure it’s fair value but I don’t like to be giving up the best prospect in a trade. Turcotte worries me too much, too. This could blow up in our faces.

The interesting thing about the OP's offer is that I think Faber might have more value than Turcotte at this point. Faber's stock has done nothing but rise since he was picked, whereas Turcotte's has clearly fallen.
