Mbappe rounds the keeper but can't finish, ball went just past the back post.

And another Mbappe miss when through, this time shot straight at keeper.
 
I don't know about best WC performer (Pele says hi) but Mbappe certainly is top 3.
IMO he's the best player of each of the WC he played but that's arguable. In any case it isn't arguable that he was top2 in the last and top 5 in 2018. Which makes him pretty close to best ever.

He looks both cooked and the problem in Madrid, which even fair Real fans would tell you. I've never seen him be this bad in Paris, granted I didn't watch today's match, but it's Getafe
 
Oihan Sancet is a weird 8/10. Meh playmaking, zero defending, but one of the greatest shots in world football. I don't know if he shouldn't be tried as a striker.

Maradona's 86 WC is IMO the best ever. But he sucked in the others. So he's out of this conversation.

He's been like this in Paris too. I don't know what's wrong with him but he needs to come back to the basis with humility.

You know I saw most of his games in Paris his last year there, he wasn't THIS bad

Especially the Barcelona game, Real could have called up a striker from Castilia and he couldn't have done worse

not instinctively opposed to Mbappe being top 3, but I would suggest that R9 has two WCs better than Mbappe’s best.
