Congrats to the Kings and Quick for the 1st Jennings trophy in team history!

Edit: Honorable mentions to Scrivs and Jonesy! They helped, too!

OH YAH!

Woo! Just dropped by to check in on this. Stoked for Quickie and both Jones/Scrivens--Kings will surely find a way to celebrate their contributions.

Great honor to finally be the defensive team...all without Quick for a chunk of the season and missing Doughty here down the home stretch (how average does our d look without him? Good depth, no top pairing).

Nice. Had to figure Boston wouldn't get a shut out on demand... but nice to make it official.

Awesome to see the Kings win a goaltending trophy for the first time in team history, though this is more of a team accomplishment. Now win the Stanley Cup!

The Kings goaltending has come along way since the days of having to start guys like Fukufuji because we were out of options. Well done DL and his staff for grooming our goalies to be the best.

Something to be proud of that's for sure. Pretty amazing accomplishment and a testament to Dean's philosophy of building from the back.

Good for Quick, jones and The Profressor, all who contributed backstopping this year.

Congrats to every King who played minutes this year, esp those who went the extra measure, kicking it up a gear, when Quick went out to put a wall up in front of the Professor and Jones. This trophy is a shining example of why the Kings system is so effective and part of the reason why no one wants to play them in the playoffs.

Comments from the Professor on the Kings Winning the Jennings:

“They obviously play extremely well in their own zone,†Scrivens said. “The biggest thing that they do is they hang onto the puck. They don’t turn pucks over. I guess it’s maybe easier for a goalie when the puck’s 200 feet from your net all the time. That being said, Jonesy and Quicker did a fantastic job this year. Obviously they make the saves that they have to at the right times, and they give confidence to the team. So congrats to those guys, and I’m really happy for them.â€

He's dead on with that comment and he'd know, playing behind them. That is all part of why being the top puck possession team is worth working on.

He's an apt student of the Old School of defense and goaltending win championships. And building from the back up is the best way to become that elite team that year in and year out, excels at that philosophy. Even in their farm system, always keeping the shelves filled so the inventory is always ready.

Having suffered for 40 years in Philly with Ed 'we don't need a culture change' Snider, whose shortsightedness about defense and goaltending, drafting and building , developing the right way has cost the Flyers for almost 40 years. I'm convinced he'll never die, 80 and still meddling as well as ever. He should take his half age new bride to Palm Springs and stay there , instead of ruling with an iron fist and spouting his decaying philosophy to the media.

GKG- time to warm up the grill for some filet of shark steaks.
