I.E.
Turcotte would make sense for the Jets as a gamble given that they're likely losing Scheifele and PLD. If he's going too we better be getting another useful player and not giving up any high picks though.

Yeah I said that in the main board thread too, makes sense in that turcotte isnt really high value on his own, but as a gamble in addition, a nice piece.

Vilardi, Turcotte, Iafallo, Bjornfot, picks

PLD, Hellebuyck with retention, Dillon

I'd feel a lot better about that since it's attacking all needs than just forwards with warts in exchange, and hedges some of the risks on both sides.

I'm not a fan of moving Vilardi, but I also don't know what he's asking for, and his injury concerns are legitimate. Won't overreact until it happens, we see the full details, and the numbers on the potential PLD extension
This is the most logical take at this point. This SHOULD be Blake’s last offseason to get the Kings further than the first round. Best case scenario is PLD lights it up (70-80 pts), Byfield takes a huge step, Kings find stability in net, win the division and make a deep run.

And a below average first line that got caved in by Edmonton, a group of wingers that couldn't win a board battle to save their lives, a lousy penalty kill, zero perseverance, you know, the reasons why the team was just bounced out of the playoffs.

None of which are being addressed yet, and will actually be further weakened by the names on this deal.

If this trade is made, the Kings may be the easiest out in the league. Like EASY easy.
Iafallo was one of our best players in the playoffs as well.

Both Gabe and Iaffalo actually scored at a higher rate than PLD at 5 on 5.

Imagine clearing all that cap space and assets just to sign PLD. If Brissons his agent, Luc has his fingers all over this.
I really hope Blake, Luc and TM get the boot if they don’t make it further than the first round next year. Seeing Vilardi light it up in WPG would be the cherry on top of a dogshit tenure of mediocrity for this group.

That’s not entirely accurate. The penalty kill got exposed

Scoring rates per 60min at 5 on 5:

Vilardi 2.28 (54% OZ starts)
Iafallo 1.99 (51% OZ starts)
PLD 1.78 (60% OZ starts)
Yep. This trade really would set the team back. Blake should be fired if they actually are trying to make this trade.

You simply wait a year. There is talent available every offseason. Blake has overpaid to clear cap NOW instead of waiting a year to use the space made available by the end of Kopitar, Arvidsson and what would have been the end of Walker's deal and an extremely affordable Peterson buyout.

Instead, these deals are costing the Kings additional assets, namely a 2nd, Grans, $2 million in space for Provorov and what will inevitably be a quality winger contract just to fit in Dubious right now.

Talent is available every year unexpectedly. Every stinking year. The Kings have way, way too many holes to contend this year, why OVERPAY now?
Blake may not have another year for all we know. It’s also obvious he doesn’t view the teams outlook and potential the same way you do.

I get all the love for Vilardi but if Kopitar retires next year ala Brown then who is the number one center?

Byfield can barely play 3c at this point.

Kings have a number one center one year away from UFA at the age of 35 and a 20 year old heir apparent.

Danault is really a 3C.

So Kings are basically saying Kopi is gone soon, PLD takes over the number one center spot, Danault plays 2C and Byfield 3C.

Who cares? If Byfield doesn’t pan out the kings are f***ed anyway

I’m sure this has been said elsewhere, but if the Kings really do trade for PLD, doesn’t that indicate they have zero faith in Byfield at the center position in the immediate future?

I guess they could believe Byfield will still become a #1 center, which puts PLD at #2 long term, and then what? An elder statesman Kopitar at $5 million AAV at #3 C?
Nope. Kopi isn't going to be around forever & at some point they can slide him to wing, though he'll probably keep taking faceoffs. Byfield now has time to develop without being rushed & can transition to center when Kopi moves on.

This was just spewed by a bitter ex-employee so we can see this regurgitated for the next year or two.
