I like Arvidsson a lot but this is the right move. This would open up some cap they need to fill holes. Theyd also be selling high and can fill the spot from within. Kaliyev or Fagemo may be able to get into his spot and they can get a nice set of picks for Arvidsson to replenish the outgoing wave of prospects that has graduated to the NHL and guys that didnt make it like Madden and Thomas.

With the cap barely rising for three straight seasons, I think few free agents get over payed like that this off season simply because of cap constraints. Too many teams need to move salary just to re-sign people. Chicago and Arizona can't take every cap dump. There will be some bargains to be had for guys that want to win.
I don’t think that affects the big names or even the middle tier. The lack of cap increase usually affects the lower impact players.

It's funny too, because Blake started at the same time as Dubas did. Dubas has arguably been much more successful in his tenure with Toronto than Blake has been in LA, yet Blake seems to think he has an unlimited shelf life and no accountability coming for his mistakes.
