Because offense is just what the team needed vs the Oilers.

I guess the argument would be that Danault will focus on the PK (likely with no power play time), and maybe you can even shave 1-3 minutes off of Kopitar and Danault on average without asking PLD to do something he's never done.

I'm starting to warm up to this trade. I love Vilardi he's without a doubt my favorite player from the "rebuild" but he's a winger with very legitimate long term health concerns who had 1 successful season as a pro and even then he missed 20 games while posting an unsustainable 19% shooting percentage, Iafallo was essentially a cap dump. We clearly needed a center as well as a top 6 forward that played a power game with a bit of jam, PLD covers both of those.

We also need to relax and wait for the entire trade to be announced

Ultimately, all jokes and trolling aside, I’m fine with this. I wholly disagree with how Blake has constructed this team, but at least he’s not pretending to rebuild anymore.

At the very least, being a Kings fan is exciting these days. That is, you know, before the first round exit depression kicks in.

It's gonna suck if Copley can't repeat his magic (banking your hopes on goalies who are infamous for being finnicky and like voodoo magic is always a good idea) and they're left stranded again with a horrible goalie situation they've had years to fix

He's better than a backup, but not a #1. Platoon goalie is the best way to describe him. King's still need a #1 goalie!

The two games we won were on powerplays in OT. Other than that there was VERY few times when we were controlling the game offensively.

But ultimately I agree, PK and goaltending were more of the main issues.

And now he's in Winnipeg. It sucks.

I'm not saying I love the trade. Vilardi was my favorite player last year.

I'm just saying if we're looking at last year's playoffs... PLD definitely would've helped. Probably more than Vilardi (but who knows). And I say that mostly just based on center depth. PLD forces Lizotte down to 4C which is huge. I'd argue Vilardi or Byfield could have done that already, but we don't know for sure.

Again, I LOVE Vilardi and wish he was coming back next year for the Kings, I think he's going to be an absolute stud. But PLD has the potential to be a stud too. At this point we kinda have to hope he has another level to his game.

They couldnt generate anything 5 on 5 because their game plan was literally to generate nothing.
The development and coaching is a big problem here. Not the player personnel.
