It's not a problem it's an opportunity. It's a puzzle.

Fix your thinking.

I guess I could go back and look it up, but does anyone know where Durzi ranked in making the team before start of the season? I confess, I didn't even have this guy on my radar and was called up and remember being kind of disappointed that it was him over other D prospects. But yah, the dude has been great and I can see the 'culture' reference and what he could mean to this team in the very near future.

I watched a lot of Ontario games last season and it wasn't pretty out there for him. I wasn't even overly wowed by his offense but he would make some really horrible plays defensively, like, to the point where he seemed like a write off. I even thought it would be a clown show when he got called up this year. Looked like a good teammate down there though and would stick up for teammates etc.

This is a kid though that has faced adversity and continues to overcome it and get better. Passed over in his draft year. Then he's a 2nd round pick that plays as an over-ager in the OHL. Looks like a guy that never played defense before in Ontario last year but then comes in this year and crushes it in the AHL and is now providing ~17 minutes of solid play on a winning NHL team.

Durzi came in and seized his opportunity. When some of us worry about the big-ticket prospects and a lack of production in their varying amount of NHL time, it's this "opportunity seizing" thing that really bothers me. Not going to get in to where guys get slotted, opportunity etc...but I want to see these guys come in and just take it, run with it and never give it up. It's an attitude thing and Durzi has it in spades.

He's the kind of guy that makes your tank/rebuild look good because there are no guarantees with 1st round picks or any picks for that matter. You bust on Hickey and Teubert but you hit big on an Alec Martinez and you have a key piece to a Cup winner. It's virtually a guaranty that Blake isn't going to hit on all of his 1st round picks but these unexpected surprises really go a long way to making a tank job successful.

Couldnt agree more- said it somewhere else but Durzi is a much better NHLer than AHLer. Not sure Ive ever seen this in the past. I thought at the NHL level he would be a dicey proposition defensively but hes shown he can hand and not a liability. If Grundstrom can get a fair shake with Byfield that Muzzin trade looks to be a homerun with Grundy, Bjornot and Durzi. Heck even if Grundstrom gets traded or something you still ended with a couple of solid young defensemen.

@All The Kings Men reminded me in a post a week or so ago that Walker can play the left side and looked pretty good doing it. I would guess that he replaces Maatta if he's not traded as part of a package upgrade elsewhere. Either way, we're going to see what kind of decision-making prowess this FO has. Who to keep and who to trade. I just really hope that they don't try and sell out in an attempt to try and worst to first this rebuild.

Yeah,he spent a good amount of time on various pairings, including with Doughty, and never really looked out of place (until they amped his minutes up TOO high). That's a really good call putting a veteran on his left side instead of converting one of the rooks. I would DEFNITELY prefer him over Maatta even at Maatta's best.

That plus Walker suffered thru so much of the bad I want to see how he performs in the good and surrounded by guys that care, he's no slouch himself.

So we're going to have Doughty, Anderson, Roy, Walker, Bjornfot, Durzi, and Clarke on the roster? Who sits? Does Clarke go back to the OHL?

Clarke prob back to OHL but if he crushes it probably Bjornfot/Durzi if not Walker since he's a lil older. Would be a good problem to have. Not like no one gets hurt.

If Clarke crushes it....does it make sense having him as the 7th dman, practicing with the big team...and maybe a rotation with Walker, Bjornfoot, Durzi......either way it's a good problem to have

With playoff teams desperate for Goaltending wonder if there's an opportunity to get out of Cal's contract at the deadline.

I hope he goes full Durzi and over achieves. Hot hand, with h10 goals in his last 11. He could spell Grundstrom as LW3...or better, 23. But that won't happen.

would love to see him with QB and Grundy.....love 23 but he cant perform at minimal NHL level to contribute. Hate to say it but Austin Wagner probably better NHL player at this point.

Judging by the post Boston game comments from both the coaches and the players, I expect us to go on a slight losing streak. The coaches saw this loss coming, but the players didn't. Can they adjust in time for Dallas? I hope so, but I think we lose that one too.

In both lopsided losses, to the Sharks and Boston, we outshot our opponent. We lack finishers. The shot volume approach only works for so long.

This is either a showcase or it's going to be JAD's last chance to stick as a King long-term.

I have always been a big fan of this guys game, from when he first played for the Kings as a teenager. I think the issue for him is he just got passed over by Lizotte, that was supposed to be his spot long-term and he just got beat out.

Sitting brown in favor of AD would make too much sense, so I’m fully expecting to see something asinine like Iafallo or Moore getting benched, because reasons.

If the Kings sat Brown for JAD they would have 11/1 left vs right forwards. It would be like the opposite of your typical American beer league team.

Blake needs to trade for a right-shot forward.

i think sitting grundstrom would be bullshit but it seems like he gets nothing but bullshit from this org.. they can't possibly be sitting brown can they?

happy for JAD but i just don't see why

I couldn't agree more, I just don't see who else they sit.

JAD - Byfield - Grundstrom would be awesome to see though.

Just like to point out that the Kings policy all season has been to stock the roster for road trips in case they need the extra bodies.

with Lias Andersson out that means they have an extra roster spot

Not saying that JAD won't play... just saying this could be nothing more than health insurance for a 4 game road trip.....
