Blands takes get hotter and hotter as the days go on. He is like the Kanye of the Kings board.
Lol, its the same thing I have been saying for 13 years now. Nothing hot about it, other than your usual inability to understand what you have been watching.

Lemieux isn't enough a deterrent to stop people from taking liberties.
If anything, you take more, because you know Lemieux has a short fuse and refs love to call reputation penalties.
The defense last game was
Edler - 6-3 215
Bjornfot - 6.0 205
Stecher - 5'10 186
Spence - 5'10 186
Durzi - 6'0 195
Maata - 6'2 210

Any coach worth his salt has his team taking liberties.

Rebuilds are complicated processes.
Blake has rebuilt this team into a playoff contender.
But once you make the playoffs, then you need to start addressing the issues of why you lost in Round 1. (Not tough enough, weak in front of the net, etc)

Fair, but it's noticably worse lately, or since he's gone out. Whether that's the game intensity ramping up or Lemieux missing or both, people know they don't have to answer to anyone but Durzi.

Is there any Lizotte news at all? I haven't seen any anywhere.

I'm worried it's a pretty bad concussion, and that his playstyle may be severely affected.

Of course that play went unpenalized.

Yep, 100% agreed. Stutzle is by FAR the worst defensive player on his team. Dude is a -27 while getting the most ozone starts on his team at 64.6%. Next worst are at -18. Zegras and Drysdale are sitting at -21 and -20 respectively with Zegras getting 73.5% zone starts, also top on his team. Next worst at -15. All 3 of these players are getting close to 18 or more minutes of ice time per game. Hell or high water, those teams are sending those kids out there for major minutes. They get powerplay time as well.

I 100% guarantee you that would NOT fly under TMc. Certainly not forwards. Those kids are talented, that's not the argument, but here your ass gets planted on the 4th line or the 3rd line with 10 to 12 minutes of TOI with instructions to grind. Unless you can reasonably play a 200-foot game. It's about deployment and team goals. Durzi and Tobi are sitting at the highwater minus ratings for the Kings at -11 and -9, but those guys are being tossed into top pairing matchups because of all the injuries and recently had that bad game vs Seattle where they were -4 and -3. Like it or not, this is the Kings way. TMc's way at least. Stutzle and Zegras are very talented, but let's not pretend that they wouldn't be handcuffed in LA because they would be with how shit they are in their own zones.
Byfield has very good defensive metrics, as does Kaliyev

How many cups do the kings have with Kopitar as captain and one of the highest paid players in the league?

The Kings have less playoff wins than franchise cups with Kopitar as captain.
So by that logic Connor McDavid is a complete bum.

When you don't mix up the units, you're going to see the same results. What, do these coaches think they NOW have a good PP strategy they've uncovered? It's the same players, doing what they've always done. Doing the same moves and passes and movement that they're used to doing.

Absolute insanity. First round exit God-King
the Kings could be #1 in special teams and you would still predict a first round loss...more like beat so bad in first 3 games that Bettman steps in and calls the series. You are a pillar of positivity.

I'm convinced we don't actually have coaches. Just bodies behind the bench that collect a check.

"Offense? Hell they're probably drawing plays in the dirt!"

...

"Eddie, the stick is you, Chico you're the bottlecap."

"Hey man, I thought I was the bottlecap"

"You're the twig god dammit!"

I’d be really happy if the Kings were first on the PP. I’m a pillar of realism but thank you

So damn annoying. If I was the PP coach, looking at the entire lineup, the first player I would want on PP1 is Viktor Arvidsson. The best combination of: skating, shot, goal scoring ability, stickhandling, passing, quickness, awareness, experience, than ANY other player. No other player surpasses him, with his level of all of those elements. And he's not on it?

I think that’s more coaching than the Kings management does.

I think this is a better version and representation of Todd right here.

I'm not sure a change in personnel always leads to the desired result. I think things can get stagnant on the PP with a lack of movement. I like how they are doing the drop passes to enter the zone but I think they can work on ways to make them less predictable and set up more dangerous scoring opportunities.

If you ever want to take your head out of the sand and have a real conversation, answer to this. somehow, the 2016 Kings ranked 8th. Ever since then they've been bottom tier, and 25th in the NHL overall during that time period. Less than 20% is almost always bottom 8, lottery territory.

It hasn't worked with damn near the same personnel for the last 10+ years...let's just run it a few more times and I'm sure we'll get it, though.

It's absolutely SHIT coaching to be doing this yet again when you have weapons like Kaliyev, Byfield, ARvidsson, even ringers like Frk riding the bench. It's okay to give TM praise, but you can also be realistic.

I don't care enough about it to bitch like a baby over it. Obviously, it's not that much of an impact on a team that was predicted to NOT make the playoffs. Now, if we lose the next 10 while going 0 for 50 on the PP -- and miss out on the post season, I'll kindly join the black parade.

Since Kopitar signed his deal, McDavid has appeared in 21 playoff games and scored 22 points. His cap hit is crippling but he’s earning most of his money.

If you don't know that movie (and shame on you if you don't, its the best sports movie ever made), It's the QB drawing the plays in the dirt. Just like how Kopitar is obviously the powerplay coach.

The point is more that every team, playoff bubble or true contender, has flaws/concerns of some sort. They're gonna get discussed. That doesn't mean everyone's on the fail train. But they DO have an impact--hell the Oilers are ahead of us, would you say their goaltending doesn't have much of an impact? The Flames are ahead of us, would you say their health and Johnny G being the only one scoring isn't a worry? Because I'll tell ya--those fanbases talk about those things. A LOT.

If you can't handle rational discussion about ongoing concerns, it's gonna be a tough month for you with a race this tight. Everything is exacerbated.

The real beef here is this isnt' even an issue that needs to be solved with a trade or move--it's simply "don't go to the same well that's failed for a decade" but TM has proven he can't adjust his way out of a wet paper bag so here we are. Edit: actually it's not even that, no one cares that PP1 is PP1 that much...but when Iafallo gets almost as much PP time as Kaliyev gets total icetime and PP1 plays for 7 of the last 11 minutes, it's an issue.

I've always said that Kopitar gets blamed for being a golden retriever instead of a doberman.

And, I repeat: a very true statement about team success was weaponized to attack his character.

It'a no secret I'm a big fan of Kopitar and perhaps more forgiving of his shortcomings, but there have been some takes on here that I strongly hope people have come to reconsider.
I don't believe criticizing Kopitar's unwillingness to impose his will on Kings' opponents is maligning his chararcter.

No doubt he is an A+ student in the Kings' classroom, which is made up of average students over the 5-6 seasons. He had to potential to be the valedictorian of the entire school.

You're so content with the team not getting better. And you get offended when someone with a passion for this team wants the team to be better. You're a contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. Every argument you make is "they're in the playoffs nanananana I can't hear you!"
