For a retool, Habs are looking for prospects, not picks. Prospects pool is thin at C and RD.

LA is looking for scoring help on W and LD. Their prospects pool at C and RD is healthy even almost a lockjam.

Which C and RD prospects LA Kings will be willing to trade for Toffoli and Chariot (easy to assume Chariot will accept an extension with LA). Bergevin would surely recommended to bring those two.

Kupari + Grans
Makes sense. They were passed by better prospects in the depth chart. Equivalent of late 1st round picks / B prospects at this stage. Not super excited by the offer but not completely wrong either.

Ideally the Kings are going to use a prospect like Kupari and a depth winger like AA for an upgrade. I like Toffoli but I just don’t think they’d bring him back. Chiarot would be nice but cost is counter productive.

Grans hasn’t been passed by really, the staff thought he was a raw prospect that would need a bit of development but he’s blown past all expectations and is very, very highly thought of by the Kings

It makes sense for Montreal only.
LA do not need Toffoli or Chariot.
LA traded Toffoli when they started rebuild 2 years ago.
They surely do not need him now.
Kings should not trade for UFA Chariot either.
They made these kinds of mistakes in the past and hopefully will not repeat it.

Why not a Kings fan propose deal for LA?
Take it easy. I’m just guessing at value. Grans for Chairot favors Montreal. But Toffoli for Kupari favors the Kings.

it’s an idea around the OPs suggestion. LA is a playoff contender so I have no idea if they’ll go for it or not. Blake will make that call.

why would Kings want Toffoli? debate ends there. Could see the interest for Chariot as all teams want vet dmen for playoff runs but since the kings have 5-6 legit wing prospects in Ontario....Kings do not need another winger to clog the pipeline.

I don't want to get too off the rails here, but Gallagher might be a better long-term target for LA. I understand that his value is limited on this board and his contract is not a great selling point. But, to me, it's very reminiscent of Brown a couple of years ago - and we all see how that worked out. He's still more than capable of being a .6-7PPG, two-way, gritty, EV contributor. He's shown that he can be a leader on the ice and has great chemistry with Danault. When I think about LA making a bit of noise in the playoffs, creating a base to launch/stabilize their young team forward, Gallagher is a really good option.

I think MTL would move him for a similar deal that is being talked about here: something like Kupari + RD Prospect. Over the next couple of years, I think this offers a greater impact for LA than a Toffoli deal and is likely a better roster fit in terms of how he produces points and what he brings to the team. MTL isn't where LA is in terms of putting together a competitive young team and likely won't for several years.

Kupari was a habs fan growing up.

Kupari and Grans would be good and realistic targets.

In dreams of Montreal fans Kupari and Grans would be good and realistic targets for trading not needed assets.
In dream of Kings fans Guhle and Romanov would be good and realistic targets for trading not needed assets.
Please stop dreaming Canadiens fans.

LA doesn't have room for Toffoli long-term, it's pretty much a non-starter for me. Too many younger players knocking on the door. Where would Toffoli fit? I'd rather give Vilardi the opportunity in the top six.

But let's pretend Toffoli and Chiarot for Kupari and Grans was the trade. This is what LA would look like post-trade:

Kempe - Kopitar - Toffoli
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Iafallo - Byfield - Brown
Lemieux - Lizotte - Kaliyev

Anderson - Doughty
Chiarot - Durzi
Bjornfot - Roy

Gallagher is a nice wee player, but just the wrong age for us with that contract.
