Weekes: LA Kings Brandt Clarke on the move?

Weekes is just stirring the pot, and just reckless rumor mongering, even by his standard. He just trying to get clicks, which is lame. Kings have been going 11/7 for months, and with Doughty's return go 12/6 for one game , with Clarke getting scratched for any number of reasons. And he's on the block? If they move one of their young dmen, it's Spence, not Clarke.

I would absolutely love it if Clarke is to be traded, because it means another incredibly fun blockbuster to debate, since everyone here agrees he holds enormous value. Bergevin was an absolutely terrible GM overall, but he did pull off a few great trades, so maybe his influence can help for once.
He has no influence. He was brought in to sit on his boyfriend’s Luc lap. Blake just sucks.

Exactly. Spence or Moverare are the most likely candidates for that
Don’t move any defenders. Just dress 11-7 the rest of the season and see what happens with 84 in the offseason. Missing a 4th liner that plays 9 minutes a game won’t be missed. Damn leadership can’t do much of anything right lately

Would Blake use Clarke as the trade chip to acquire Byram?

Kings have ran Anderson-Gavrikov all season, and I think Mikey Anderson is a bit miscast as a top pairing d-man with Doughty. Byram there would give the Kings a pretty solid 1-6 defense.

Weekes used to be a secretly good insider but now he has swung and missed on quite a few things

His 15 mins of fame is done as far as being an insider
Sure do miss Bobby Mack, the lack of Professionalism today and the obsession with being the first to report news is a joke. Look at Frank Spaghetti incorrectly saying Kotkaniemi was traded to Colorado in the Necas deal. Weekes is no better, just an engagement baiter with his stupid videos and caption-less tweets.

Clarke is better than Byram. Also him being a RHD > LHD helps his case

LA was shut out tonight after scratching Clarke and activating Doughty. Clarke > Doughty confirmed.

Seriously, they need Clarke's offense right now. I would've left him in and inserted Doughty in Moverare's spot. Doughty is experienced and smart enough to handle playing the left side on the sheltered 3rd pair while he gets up to speed, IMO.

They find themselves in an interesting situation with Clarke. He has hit a wall somewhat. If you watched the Detroit game this week, you seen the big difference between Clarke and another of the 2021 Top 10 Dmen, in Simon Edvinsson. It was obviously night and day comparing the two. Clarke was honestly invisible most of the night, but it’s also not fair in many ways because Edvinsson looks like he might be a very special player.

One thing that’s effecting Clarke is, the ice time Jordan Spence is earning. You play your best players and right now Spence is just the better option and he’s taking that ice from Clarke.

So they have to do something to make sure Clarke keeps developing and Doughty returning doesn’t help. The problem is, he’s not going to get anything from going back to the AHL. So they have to figure out what they’re going to do with him. He has to play.

Anyone thinking this means Clarke is flopping, etc, just stop. He’s still a kid and they have ups and downs. We’ve seen him play some really good games in the NHL already, and there will be many more to come. The Kings would look back at the day they traded him and kick themselves for a decade.

As for Weekes mentioning his name like he has, it is now the second time this week I’ve heard his name popping up. I ignored the first time from an evaluator who contracts with teams. Blowing it off as just ridiculous but maybe there is something to it. Problem is, when teams trade young, high-end D prospects, they usually lose those trades.

They need to be very careful here.
