I'm not really opposed. But it just makes it so injuries can screw a team over even more than they already can.The solution is easy, make the play-off rosters have to be cap compliant.
The thing I wouldn't mind seeing is that your teams lineup per playoff game couldn't exceed the salary cap. You can still expand the rosters at years end so that the cap doesn't affect your scratches, but you couldn't ice a team over the limit.I'm not really opposed. If you lose a key player or two for a significant amount of time and you think there's a chance they could be able to return in the playoffs, your hands are tied and you can't go out and get help.
That's probably more 'fair' though - Because it then rewards teams for having the organizational depth to deal with injuries and remain competitive. Vs teams that immediately look to make trades to fill the holes that injuries create.
I'm down, let's do this. Who do we write the letter to??? Bettman??
Looking at how the units aligned today, the Kings did, in fact, try some things out. Forwards Quinton Byfield and Pierre-Luc Dubois changed spots between units – Byfield skated alongside his 5-on-5 linemates, Kempe and Anze Kopitar, while Dubois joined his own 5-on-5 linemate in Arthur Kaliyev.
How revolutionary. Run 5 on 5 units on the powerplay. Todd’s 5M salary really makes sense now. What an adjustment.![]()

I like it.. Byfield has some creativity that DuBlah does not.How revolutionary. Run 5 on 5 units on the powerplay. Todd’s 5M salary really makes sense now. What an adjustment.
It’s not a linemate issue with PLD it’s lazinessI like it.. Byfield has some creativity that DuBlah does not.
For the "Byfield is slow" crowd

It's called a 'Sol Special'.f*** what a hot take that is....
Including previous seasons, he's faced criticism at every skillset, including skating. Of course, it's not been discussed much this seasonWait, is there anyone who says he's slow? That's amazing.
It’ll be explained away by drawing the conclusion that he’s only been trying this seasonIncluding previous seasons, he's faced criticism at every skillset, including skating. Of course, it's not been discussed much this season

The more things change, the more they stay the same....
An absolute wagon of a team offensively and defensively, completely undone by special teams and goaltending.
Stop me if you've heard this story before somewhere.
These guys better get on the right track again pronto. If they lose tonight they'll be 1-4-3 at home which is absolutely unacceptable.
And the fact that the puck no longer turns into a grenade every time it touches his stick seems to be working out as well.Byfield never had slow feet, but his decision making was causing him to react and “play slow”.
That clearly has not been the case with him for some time now.
Yah, hindsight is fun because it makes anyone look really smart. However, when we traded for Fiala, we didn't need a goaltender. With the benefit of hindsight and with Byfield now being a winger, it probably would have been better to move an elite young asset like Faber for a goaltender, rather than a winger.
Actually, there were a bunch of us who were sounding the alarm on the lack of any goalie depth. Quick was another year older and Petersen was coming off a very unimpressive season where he failed to take the reigns from the old man. A lot of people wanted Wallstedt from Minnesota.Yah, hindsight is fun because it makes anyone look really smart. However, when we traded for Fiala, we didn't need a goaltender.
