LA KINGS 2023/4 Regular season discussion

For the love of god please stop making Arvidsson seem like an impact player. With him or without him the needle barely moves in either direction.
26 goals and 59 points in 77 games last year. Seven points in six playoff games.

Two points in three games this year (throw out the 15 second shift game). Kings 3-0 in those games. He had 12 shots on goal in those three games and is one of only like, three right hand shot forwards.

Lacking a true gamebreaker, the Kings offense has to overwhelm with depth. Arvidsson allows Fiala to be moved off of the Danault line which, in theory, should help make three legit scoring lines.

Of course, because who wants an even moodier, disinterested version of PLD.

But it can definitely be true that the Kings weren't the team he invoked the clause on. Too much smoke to not believe the Kings were, at a minimum, kicking the tires here.
It would be gross negligence not to at least ask what the price was.

Watch Blake trade Byfield for Ullmark LOL

I wonder if the Jets would've accepted Arvidsson instead of Vilardi in the PL package at the time?

Sure we know who we'd keep, but did the Jets feel the same way - at the time? Were they just happy to be getting rid of PL? I think we know how they'd feel.

Did Blake really have to offer up Vilardi so easily? Already sending a former 1st round pick, and a 2nd round pick, it's not like there wasn't any other youth in the deal. Why not the older, other PP scoring RW with a bad back?

*Only referring to him as PL now, too lazy so it suits him better.

If Blake was the Jets GM maybe.

Byfield-PLD-Vilardi would've been fun to see

What's your definition of an impact player?

The entire org has barely moved in either direction for the past couple years. Does that mean Kopitar, Byfield, Fiala, PLD, Vilardi, Moore, Dansult, Kempe, Doughty, Anderson, Gavrikov... aren't impact players?

I don't disagree that, at his age and contract, Arvidsson would benefit the org more if he was moved for youth. But he's a legitimate top-six player when healthy, where the presence or lack thereof has an impact in team performance.

If Arvidsson was some incredible difference maker, perhaps Blake shouldn't have screwed his cap to the point where it's all but guaranteed he's gone next year? He can't be both the linchpin and deemed not a priority to keep around

Was shocked to see Kempe back so fast. Hopefully Mikey and Arvy back before the playoffs start.

I think KHL Player-PLD-KHL Player would’ve been better.

That’s the level of mental gymnastics Blake and his sycophants here are engaging in at this point.

Tough to pick a lynchpin to pay scarce dollars to when one was a cap dump trade at forward and the other a #2 D who came out of the 7th round.

The Ullmark thing is dubious. I saw a headline somewhere that the Kings were one of three teams trying to get Toffoli, though. If so, thank God that didn't happen.

Arvidsson is awesome. Always hustles, has chemistry with almost everyone, good puck carrier, good passer, right shot, fair contract. Give me Arvy any day

Maybe I’m wrong but I read Sol’s comment as Arvidsson not making the Kings a contender by himself despite several posters throughout the year acting like he will get us over the first round hump. With or without Arvidsson, the Kings aren’t going far.
