So DJ Smith is essentially head coach?
Sorry guys my ex fell out of bed
Shook pretty hard in Thousand Oaks, but was over pretty quick.Who else just felt that earthquake? 4.7 off malibu
You’re reading a hell of a lot into “taking care of 5-on-5.”He's the guy deciding line changes for most of the game.. over time the players will look to him as the leader.. I get that he wants to minimize disruption, but its not like the PP was that fantastic.. i was hopingn for someone who would be willing to change personnel on the PP.
Felt it in Santa Clarita too. There's been like 23 aftershocks on record (not felt). Something is up and it doesn't feel right.
Maybe - but at first glance looks like leadership by committee. When a team needs new direction Id like to see someone take the reins and establish themselves.. but who knows maybe it works. You’re reading a hell of a lot into “taking care of 5-on-5.”
Agree on Kaliyev.
And agree that Lizotte and Kaliyev should return more than just a 4th line center. Ideally there would be picks returned as well.
But I do think a 4C can make a pretty underrated impact on a team. For the first 30 games, this team was elite - And looked like they actually could be legit contenders. A big part of that was that they were rolling 4 really strong lines and distributing ice time pretty evenly instead of dropping 20 mins a night on Kopitar every game. Rolling 4 really strong lines also resulted in the Kings getting strong contributions from their bottom 6. They were legitimately dominating 80% of their games.
This team is tough to evaluate right now. Did they overperform in the first 1/4 of the season?? Or have they drastically underperformed in the second 1/4 of the season?? The answer is probably somewhere in the middle and I understand why people are down on them, but I still do view the Kings as a pretty damn good team *if they play to their potential*. The last month or so was brutal - But we KNOW this team is much better than we've seen in the last month... That's why it's been so frustrating.
I wasn't really suggesting adding a 4C with size as the final/missing piece to the puzzle to make this team a sure favorite to win the cup. I was more just seeing that as a move the Kings could make to strengthen the group before trying to go on a run in the playoffs.
This next month is going to be really telling for the Kings. When you look at the personnel - if this group plays good hockey and individuals play remotely to their potential.... This is a team that can match up against just about any team in the league and at least make for a competitive series. If they continue to underperform, then yeah this team looks pretty rough. It's not a perfect roster regardless, but it's a REALLY good roster (Especially if fully healthy) when things are clicking and everyone is pulling their weight.
She's been singing a lot for the kings games too I see. lol.Sorry guys my ex fell out of bed

Percentage of games over/under 20 min TOI is a braindead way to look at it. Kopi's average TOI by month shows a more interesting story. Why can't you be factual?
Kopi has played 48 games, of those, let's take the 1st half, vs 2nd half (Dec 27th, coincides with the skid)
1st Half 30 games up until the 27th, then 18 games after...for clarity.
1st half games over 20 minutes (even if it's 20:01) 13 games,
2nd half games over 20 minutes (even if its 20:01) 9 games.
JUST about even if you go percentage, 2nd half is 50%, 1st half is what, 48%?
You can argue if it's RIGHT that ANY game over 20:00 etc, but when you are spewing facts and using those facts to draw conclusion, why is it so hard to be factually correct?

October: 20:52. Kopi looks great with fresh legs to open the season.
November: 18:19. Team is rolling and so are the 4 lines. Best team record of any month.
December: 19:16. Cracks are showing, PLD isn't working, the slide begins. Todd yanks the only lever he knows: ride the vets. Eye test and stats turn downward. Ride em anyway. Visibly slow. Ride. Them.
January: 19:56. RIDE THE VETS. Todd breaks the handle off the lever. Kopi falls to the ice untouched 5 times a game.
What’s even more damning about that is the frequency of games (or lack thereof) per month.Percentage of games over/under 20 min TOI is a braindead way to look at it. Kopi's average TOI by month shows a more interesting story.

Idk bro but if you can stop saying bork then you will be upgrading from being Pippin to Gandalf the White.Remember in Lord of the Rings when Gandalf the Grey fell, then travelled through space and time on some sort of cosmic journey for a seeming millennia before he was called back to earth as Gandalf the White? That's how this f***ing All-Star break has felt to me.
Who am I even, anymore?

I’m tired boss
The schedule this year has been worse than I can ever remember.Remember in Lord of the Rings when Gandalf the Grey fell, then travelled through space and time on some sort of cosmic journey for a seeming millennia before he was called back to earth as Gandalf the White? As old-man Captain America said at the end of Endgame, "No, I don't think I will."
