In other news, here is a neutral and mildly interesting video that we can criticize and nitpick over :sarcasm: At least, the organization as a whole is pretty top notch. Ownership has showed no reservation at making sure the team has the best resources across the board, at least health, fitness, and equipment/facility-wise. They do everything it takes to make sure the buck lies with hockey operations :P

We are also the only team that does not have ice girls anymore.

Arizona, Vegas and Anaheim still have ice girls.

Instead, we have dudes in sweatpants shoveling the ice.

There it is, the damning stat

But best in the league vs. bottom half teams.

The "Faber didn't want to be a King" thing is this boards illusory truth effect.

It's truly amazing how many people still believe this to be true when there is zero to back it up.

Faber didn't not sign with the Kings because he didn't want to play in LA, he didn't sign with the Kings because he wanted to play for the University of Minnesota and try and win a National Championship instead of playing in the AHL, it's the same reason why he didn't sign with the Wild when he was traded there.
You can find the same exact sentiment about Vilardi on twitter too. And it's also completely made up. Seems like it's mostly a coping mechanism.

People use lifealert when they fall, that's the joke. Kopi cannot stay on his skates with a frequency I have never seen before. He started the year strong and has declined visibly. Cumulative stats including his energetic start are meaningless. The problem is he is sharpied into his role as top center in all situations, burnout be damned, and that reduces line flexibility on a team that needs to find forward chemistry badly.
I mean I get the joke but I guess I just don't agree with the assessment that Kopi hasn't been able to stay on his skates lately???? I haven't really seen/noticed that?

I also don't agree that "Cumulative stats including his energetic start are meaningless" - I feel like cumulative stats are, um, definitely meaningful??????? Even if he did get off to a hot start it wasn't like some ridiculously hot start that wasn't sustainable - He's been roughly a point per game player all year and all of his career?

And the same is true even over the recent 6 game losing streak - Kopi has 5 points over the last 6 games so like...... Can you really say that's him declining???

You'd maybe have a point if it was like "woahhhh Kopitar only has 2 points in his last 6 games - maybe he is slowing down / declining and that's the cause for the team's recent skid" (Although even then I'd suggest over a small sample size like 6 games it could just be a cold streak).... But that's not even the case.

The problem over the last 6 games is that the depth scoring they've relied on all year has dried up.... Not that Kopitar has worn down.

Kaliyev: 0 points in the last 5 games
Dubois: 2 points (both came in the same game) in the last 6 games
Lizotte: 0 points in the last 5 games
Grundstrom: 0 points in the last 5 games
Spence: 1 point in the last 5 games

Before last night Moore had just 1 goal in his previous 5 games and Danault had just 1 assist.

The problem recently isn't at the top of the lineup - It's at the middle/bottom of the lineup. The Kings were getting phenomenal depth scoring all year, now they're not. That's why they're losing games lately.

And on this 6 game losing streak by the way 5 of those 6 games have been 1 goal games. 3 out of 6 games have gone past regulation (2 of which went to a shootout). The difference???? Depth scoring. If the Kings are getting that extra 1-2 goals a game they were used to getting from their depth lines, those one goal games become wins.

I am def complaining.

Those other Cities still have ice girls...

Covid is over, even according to Joe Biden :)
During COVID access to the "Event Level" was heavily restricted due to the league's protocols.

As a result, the ice resurfacing staff was made up of Kings employees that would already qualify for access to the Event Level.

At the end of the season the players commented that the performance during that season was noticeably better than previous seasons and so the decision was made to staff the ice resurfacing team with people with a strong background in skating and the auditioning process has become much stricter.

Good to know, thanks for the inside info.

But I ask again, why does Vegas, Arizona and Anaheim still have nice looking girls mixed with some guys or real staff? I really think it's the Kings way of going woke, even without admitting it.

If you haven't seen old man kopi hit the ice unassisted lately you aren't watching. Twice in one shift yesterday. He used to be immovable. He needs a minutes and role adjustment if he's going to be alive by the playoffs. It's not even his fault, it's on Todd. The oldest guys have the most and hardest minutes, plus OT. This is the time to experiment. The team is freefalling and regression is spreading. Give PLD his cushy productive wingers like in WPG. I don't give a shit that he hasn't earned it. Kopi gets 70 pts a year no matter who his linemates are, so put him with grinders and cut 2 min off his TOI, who cares. Gotta try something different

Kayilev and Grundstrom suck.
This is pretty ignorant lol. Neither player "sucks" - They both lack consistency. Kaliyev is 22 years old so consistency issues shouldn't exactly be a shocker to anyone (You know who else was inconsistent at 22 years old??? Kempe). With Grundstrom, hopefully it's just a cold streak - He'd been great up until about 2-3 weeks ago.

With Kaliyev specifically - He made at least 3 really strong defensive plays last night - His overall game is much improved. Yes, he still makes mistakes at times and can get a little lost away from the puck - But he really just needs to round out his game a bit more and find a little more consistency and there's a very good player there.

Grundstrom is proving he is better as a spot player. He was better when he rotated in and out with Lemieux.

Kayilev has so much confidence from coaching staff that JAD has played in his place this year and also McEwen in the playoffs.

Grundstrom is an excellent 4th liner/13th forward.

He's just far too inconsistent to play up the lineup over his head, we've seen it time and time again. He just plays an honest vanilla game with some jam to make sure the bottom line isn't ignored.

Not everyone excels with more time with better players. And Grundstrom is a particularly funny case because he's not only better down the lineup, he's one of the only guys who can pop in and out of the lineup and not skip a beat.

Imagine a life where you make millions playing a sport you love (minus PLD), AND you get fed free food all the time.

Ice Girls or not, the atmosphere at home games is trash and it is as soft as the team.

Music is horrible. Why is there a "DJ"? Looks so out of place. Toyota should ask for its money back since the "Tough Hit of the Game" is like a blocked shot or some shit most of the time.

They are catering to the "new" fans who think hockey is Kopi, Brownie, Dewy and whatever Foxy tells them it is. At 43 years old and a STH'er since 2001, am I an old man yelling at a cloud? Maybe, but this is still hockey and if I want to go to an NBA game, then I will choose to go to one.

If the team isn't generating enough excitement, the arena entertainment can't also be a bunch of cringe. Play the effing fight riff for Christ's sake and get the party going!
