Just spitballing here, but wouldn't it had been a better move for Vancouver to just buy out Luongo?

I'm not saying the 1st round pick didn't have value, but Schneider was a bird in the hand.

I don't think their ownership wanted to. They'd have to pay him like 26.5m in cash still.

I don't know. Either way, I can see why someone wouldn't spend all that money on a player who isn't there.
