I thought I saw the KHL season ended up getting extended this year and the earliest he would even be able to join us now is right around when round 1 of the playoffs would be about to begin.

Orlov hasn't been good but he's not the main problem on defense.

Simply put as long as Brindy values Burns' iron man streak more than wins, we are going to continue playing like this. The guy is absolutely cooked out there. Analytically he's one of the league's worst defenders this year and the eye test isn't exactly arguing it. And he straight up leads us in ice time night in and night out.

I don't get it. At this point it's coaching malpractice to keep doing this. He has to sit. You can't keep playing him, it's killing the team, and now they look completely mentally checked out as well.

Same old crap post game from Rod blaming it on a couple bad bounces and then basically saying after the trade they’ve changed the way they’ve been playing so basically saying the 2 new guys don’t fit what he wants but maybe Rod should change they way he coaches. System isn’t designed for skill guys to have success if Rantanen stays here he’ll be at 70-80 point guy. Rod would be more happy coaching 12 martinooks who just dump and chase the whole game

Again, this narrative falls apart when you realize Guenztal had great success with this team.

The premature line tinkering kind of killed the good vibes going last fall and they've never really looked the same since then. Other than Staal and Martinook - just think of all the line combos all the guys on offense have lived through already. It's bonkers. I don't see how that instills any confidence. Trading away the assist leader and scorer on top of that without a plan - well, no wonder there's confusion about how to execute and score.

Per the press statements, the coach and Aho knew the trade was likely coming 7-10 days before it happened..no one was preparing a strategy?

Sorry Rod but holding opponents to under 20 SOGs isn't winning games. It also isn't good for our goaltenders. Our goalies don't need to be peppered with 40 shots a night but they need to be in a rhythm of some sort. Kotch especially plays better when he's facing 25-ish shots vs 16.

It’s a system that’s designed for the talent level available to the team. We dont have a 40-goal scorer. We don’t have a 100-point player. The closest is Rantanen, and he certainly isn’t playing like one. And that’s got nothing to do with the system, that’s just a lackluster performance on his part.

Maybe the players around him just aren’t that good? Aho looks like a 2c more nights lately then he does a 1c.

You must not of watched the last 2 games it’s more then just losing a game it’s how they’re doing it. It’s been pretty inconsistent mediocre play for a while now

I mean they've been bad since Thanksgiving, meaning it's been about 3 months. It's well beyond just a few games, it's a significant portion of the season.
