Unless Toronto gets one of the top dmen prospects in this draft with an acquired 1st in a deal for Knies, I don't think he gets dealt before July 1st.

Given the Dreger news, but also the obvious news for a few weeks now that Toronto will go hard for Raddysh and likely view him as the number one.

Should they miss out, then i imagine they go down the path to trading Knies for a dman who can play now.

If the Leafs sign Raddysh and they're still looking to trade him, then it must be to fill a hole somewhere else and get futures so they can make additions at the deadline, or if Chayka is smart, semi long-term fixes in areas of weakness throughout the season to keep the window open and Matthews happy that the team is competitive.

If it's Montreal, it's going to be something like...

Dobson
Hage
1st rounder

...Hage straight up was apparently a NO from Hughes...

I love people describing Knies as just a “winger” as if 90% of GMs don’t cream their pants hoping for more power forwards. This is not like trading for a small skilled winger. It’s a 23 year old getting better every year who could be a PPG physical beast in his prime. So yeah the Leafs aren’t trading him for a second pair defenseman, it would be a top pair guy.

Something fishy is going on if Knies is ACTUALLY made available for trade around the league. If Chayka said Matthews and Nylander are available, I’d understand that more than Knies.

I dunno, something stinks

He's an extremely valuable asset that teams will likely overvalue and we can use him to fill pressing holes

Knies is an excellent player, but if he can net us a 2c or good defenseman you have to do it
I wouldn’t trade him for a 2C. Tavares does just fine for now.

That's fine, but don't ask for anything on top of a top pair D.

It may be as simple as Nylander and Matthews having NTC but I agree with you I’d move Nylander before Knies. He’s a guy I’d build around.
