I wouldn’t trade Dobson or Harley straight up for Knies. That’s crazy talk.
Good for you, but that doesn’t mean that GMs wouldn’t. Both teams have dmen ranked higher than those two. So there is some redundancy where it might make sense.

As an example, does this also allow Dallas to sign Robertson with about 7 million in cap savings?

Lots of things to consider.

Harley is a horse but he’s being wasted playing second fiddle to Heiskanen . I’d love him in Toronto but Knies ain’t it

Kypreos said today he’s hearing that the offers for Knies are centered around the following:

Top pairing dman
1st Rounder
Another player/prospect

Any idea what teams could match that?
On what planet is a 2nd line winger worth a top pairing dman?

I've never understood this line of argumentation in a forum for fans to fantasize about rumors and theoretical trades.

"I don't think that's a good trade."
"Who cares if you don't, a GM might."

Dude, you're not talking to a GM. You're not participating in an exercise to make other fans choke down pretend deals that aren't interesting, fun, or fair to them.
Certainly you've seen proposed trades here that seem terrible to you. Were you at all won over by the suggestion that a GM might still make that trade?

Knies has gone from underrated to overrated
Nah, he’s being correctly rated. There are less than a handful of players in the NHL who do the things he does on a nightly basis. Skill, speed, grittiness, size. Plays the PK, top PP. He’s a rare combination. And he’s only 23 and signed for 5 years at a steal of a deal.
