I’m an Isles fan but I see him getting no more than a second round pick. I also think he’ll be a consolation prize for those teams that lose out on acquiring better TDL players like Nelson or Miller.

As for Palmieri, he had a monster last 30 games of his prior season but aside from that he’s been at a less than 20 goals per season pace for the past 4 years with really bad plus minus stats. He’s also making $5 million so it will require some retention for a trade to happen.

My worst nightmare is that Lou holds onto him and re-signs him. I think for the short term he can still be a good addition for a playoff team but he’s about to turn 34 years old and his next contract may be an albatross.

Given how much he likes the New York area I suspect he blocks off all of Canada and most west coast contenders. I'd guess he leaves FLA, VGK, CAR, WAS, TB, NYR, BOS and COL as his most realistic destinations, but would prefer NYR or NJ over anyone due to their proximity (not that the Rangers are likely to be buyers). The question is, would any one of those clubs spend futures on a middle six winger?

Why would he block west coast contenders? It's a three month stint and a chance to win a Cup. He definitely blocked rebuilding teams when he submitted his NTC list (which happens around July 1, I think), maybe a few teams in Canada.

Location would be the only guess. He probably wants to play somewhere close to home. NJ would be #1 on his list if we had to guess.

Depends on the player. Some guys are wired like Mark Recchi to compete for as many Cups as you can and other guys don't want to uproot their families if it's only for a couple months. On a different thread, we were talking about Teemu Selanne circa 2003. He apparently used his no trade to block a couple deals because he didn't want to be a rental.
