Yeah this is an AINEC situation. No disrespect to Connor either but Rantanen has a solid chance of becoming a HHOFer by the time his career ends, if he has 1 or 2 more high end seasons in Carolina its basically set in stone. Will likely go down as a top 4 Finnish forward in NHL history too.

Last 3 years:

Rantanen 122 goals, 273 points, +47, 1.29 PPG (~106 points per 82 games)
Connor 91 goals, 201 points, -16, 1.02 ppg (~84 points per 82 games)

Playoffs last 3 years:

Rantanen 16 goals, 49 points, +6, 1.29 ppg (~106 points per 82 games)
Connor 9 points in 10 games. .90 ppg (~74 points over 82 games)

The only way Connor should have any votes is if people mistake the poll option for Connor McDavid.

Rantanen is definitely better as a jets fan but it’ll be interesting to see how much Rantanens points drop off without MacKinnon and Makar

Connor is more of a team player which is more valuable.

Rantanen strikes me as he just wants cash and doesn't care about winning because he has a cup already.
That must be why Rantanen performs better in the playoffs than in the regular season.

I consider Rantanen the better player, but I don't think it's AINEC because Connor constantly leads the Jets in offense, versus Rantanen clearly benefitting offensively from MacKinnon, Makar, and even Landeskog in the past. Now Rantanen is overall more dynamic, but I don't think Rantanen is an entirely different league.

Career playoff numbers:

Rantanen 34 goals, 102 point pace over 82 games + 20
Connor 27 goals, 58 point pace over 82 games, -13

I agree that one of those 2 players plays like he doesn't care about a cup.

What is everyone's perspective now when Rantanen isn't playing with MacKinnon? I've always stood that while Rantanen is better than Connor, it's super close, as Connor has always been the line driver, versus Rantanen benefitting immensely from playing with MacKinnon.

Rantanen would not have been benched in 4 Nations with USA Jersey

I’m curious to see how Rantanen does in Carolina and/or elsewhere going forward once we get a larger sample.
